Pina Earth enables forest owners to access carbon markets the easy way. We build software that automatically assesses forests and simulates its future development to allow us to quantify carbon stock changes over time. Forest owners can store additional carbon in their forests by adopting sustainable forest management practices. Each additional ton of carbon stored generates a "carbon credit". By investing in forest carbon projects, companies contribute to climate protection. Through the sale of carbon credits, forest owners benefit from a recurring income that is reinvested to create diverse, climate-resilient forests.
We love to keep things simple, straight forward and reusable, to deliver the most impact with the least effort. As a team we’re both maintaining multiple products and building completely new ones from scratch. Our ideal requirements include:
Frontend: Most products use either Next.js or React + Bootstrap in the frontend.
Backends are built either with Python or Node.
Experience using databases, mainly Postgres in combination with ORMs (e.g. Prisma).
Familiarity with Microsoft Azure. We use Github for code management and as a CI/CD platform.
As a Full Stack Software Engineer, you take an active role in shaping our engineering culture at Pina Earth. Your primary task is to implement parts of our product. This entails all software related components, namely the certification software, simulation platform, carbon registry, and work on automation with forest owner and carbon buyer customers. This includes a variety of tasks, such as feature discovery and implementation, system design, infrastructure planning, and development operations. Your key mission is to build products that will enable us to solve our core problem: Offering the most accessible way to get rewarded for forest carbon storage.
Understand user needs: You are part of the feature discovery process together with us and our forest owners and carbon buyers. You learn about their needs/problems and come up with solutions.
Develop features: After learning what we need to build, you are involved in the actual implementation of the features from front to back. This includes work on our domain model, Typescript and React driven frontend, and our Next.js backend (with Prisma and Postgres).
Build and run the code: You are responsible to test, deploy, and monitor your own code. This involves work for example with our infrastructure, CI/CD pipeline, and testing suites.
Shape our team work: You are part of a fastmoving and teamworkfocused bunch of smart people, that live and breath the agile mindset. By actively attending all relevant team meetings (e.g. Grooming, Planning, Retro), you can directly influence how we work and flourish as a team.
Combat one of THE problems of our time - climate change - together and see your impact first hand.
