SOFTWARE ENGINEER – EMBEDDED REAL-TIME

Do you want to be a part of an exciting journey developing high quality products?

Secop GmbH located in Flensburg are seeking a SW Engineer to join their team, focusing on New Product Development (NPD) for reciprocating compressors used in Light Commercial, Mobile (DC), and Medical applications.

Do you want to:

  • Develop high-quality, optimized C/C++ code for real-time embedded applications
  • Develop, simulate, implement, and test motor control algorithms for real-time embedded systems
  • Implement control algorithms using model-based design (Matlab, Simulink)
  • Work with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and bare-metal firmware
  • Be a part of a group with more than 1.000 employees worldwide with research center in amongst others Flensburg, Germany, where you will be located and cooperate with great colleagues internationally
  • Work in an Agile/Scrum environment alongside motor, electronics, mechanical, and acoustics engineers
  • Have variable/flexible working time + willingness to travel abroad – about 10 – 15 days per year

Your tasks will amongst others be:

  • Implement communication protocols such as CAN, SPI, I2C, and Modbus
  • Ensure CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and version control (Git, Bitbucket) are integrated into the software development lifecycle
  • Develop a structured software architecture for embedded control applications
  • Ensure modular, reusable, and scalable software components across different motor drive platforms
  • Work with AUTOSAR (if applicable) and maintain adherence to ISO 26262 (functional safety)
  • Collaborate with hardware teams to define software-hardware interfaces
  • Develop test strategies including unit testing, system testing, software-in-the-loop (SIL), and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulations.
  • Create test matrices to validate control algorithms and ensure overall product performance
  • Analyze and review test data from simulations and real-world scenarios

You are/have:

professionally

  • Degree in SW engineering or a related field.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ programming for embedded real-time applications
  • Knowledge of implementing motor control algorithms
  • Most likely understanding of embedded hardware including analog/digital interfaces, microcontrollers, and DSPs
  • Perhaps experience with automotive development including the Aspice model
  • Experience in model-based development (MBD) using Matlab/Simulink
  • Perhaps experience AUTOSAR with safety-critical software (ISO 26262, IEC 61508)
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks and HIL/SIL methodologies
  • Ability to read technical German and communicate effectively in English
  • Perhaps some knowledge in motor control software development for PM motor drives
