The Opportunity

As a software architect, you will collaborate with a team of international experts in technology, business, and healthcare. Software development is central to DHEC’s offerings, and we seek to enhance our technical expertise with your skills.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and guide the development team to maintain the architectural vision.
• Coordinate with near- and offshore technical teams, vendors, and external partners to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
• Collaborate with clinical teams, administrators, and healthcare professionals to prioritize and develop health-specific software requirements.
• Evaluate and select appropriate software development technologies, tools, and platforms.
• Design architectural blueprints for development teams to implement.
• Communicate requirements effectively to stakeholders, including project managers, product owners, and security architects.
• Provide training and support in business development initiatives.

Required Skills and Attributes

• Strong communication, presentation, client service, and technical writing skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Proficiency in the local language of residence; fluency in English is mandatory. Additional languages (Italian, Portuguese, German) are advantageous.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
• Flexibility to travel as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, or related IT field; Master’s or certifications are a plus.
• At least 5 years of professional experience, with 2+ years in healthcare, focusing on native mobile app development (Android/iOS). Experience with hybrid/web solutions is a plus.
• Deep understanding of mobile application development, frameworks, and the technical aspects of Android and iOS.
• Solid knowledge of software architectures across all layers—network, infrastructure, security, persistence, application, and frontend.
• Proven experience in technical documentation, database design, and data modeling.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Puppet, Ansible, Terraform.
• Experience designing healthcare system architectures and ensuring interoperability with standards like HL7/FHIR, OMOP, openEHR.
• Knowledge of the German healthcare landscape, including TI, HIS, LIMS, etc.

Preferred Attributes

• Established network within the healthcare industry and consulting experience.
• Awareness of emerging healthcare technologies and trends, with the ability to integrate them into projects.
• Familiarity with agile project management methodologies, such as Scrum or SAFe.
• Programming skills in languages like Java, C++, C#, Python, PHP.
