Jobbeschreibung

We are looking for talented and inspirational people who put the needs of the public at the heart of everything they do and who want to make a difference. If you feel you are that person, then we want to hear from you.

We wish you all the very best with your application.

The Role & Key Responsibilities

Do you love social media so much that you have made it your career? Are you creative, innovative, and looking for an exciting new role?

We’re seeking a Social Media Officer to help us engage our online communities and create compelling content that helps catch criminals and keeps our communities across Sussex safe.

You’ll have a variety of topics and stories to work with, from crime appeals to major investigations, behind-the-scenes access, and public safety campaigns – with the autonomy to curate and create your own content.

You need experience using social media in a business capacity to achieve specific objectives, including understanding how to use data, trends, and channel exploitation to maximize reach, engagement, and views.

Our organization utilizes Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn as core channels, with some content on Snapchat and X, along with growing video content and plans to diversify further.

We use a mix of organic and paid media and collaborate with other police forces and external agencies to develop and distribute campaigns, providing broad career-building experience.
Experience with social media management platforms for publishing, scheduling, and reporting is preferred, but experience with native tools like Meta’s Business Suite is also valuable.

We support hybrid working, allowing the role to be undertaken from our Lewes Headquarters, local police sites, or from home.

Responsibilities
  • Help develop and deliver the force social media content plan, ensuring alignment with organizational and communication strategies.
  • Provide expert support and advice to enhance the effectiveness of social media channels, content, and public engagement, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
  • Create and support the production of high-quality multimedia content for online channels and train others in basic techniques.
  • Analyze performance data and industry trends to maximize reach and engagement, using insights to recommend improvements.
  • Develop and deliver training to social media users across the force to promote best practices and risk awareness.
  • Engage directly with the public via social media channels, following the force’s community management processes and policies.
  • Be familiar with major incident communication structures and be prepared to adapt into temporary roles as needed.
Skills & Experience
  • Minimum of 3 A Levels or BTEC at grade C, or proven relevant experience.
  • Proven ability to manage key social media channels such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, X, Snapchat, and YouTube.
  • Skills in image and video creation using social media or mobile apps, Adobe, or similar tools.
  • Experience delivering communications in various formats to different audiences.
  • Excellent storytelling and content creation skills to produce engaging social and digital articles.
  • Ability to interpret data analytics from multiple social media platforms for continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of native social media publishing, scheduling, engagement, and reporting tools.
  • Awareness of social media management platforms like Sprinklr, Orlo, Hootsuite, or Sprout Social.
  • Proactive, self-disciplined, and flexible, capable of working under pressure with minimal supervision.
  • Strong negotiation, influence, and persuasion skills with stakeholders under time constraints.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
