Zusammenfassung

Retarus in Germany is seeking a Service Engineer (m/f/d) to be the primary technical contact for customers, ensuring stable EDI and E-Invoicing operations and continuous improvement of integrations.

You will work with EDIFACT, X12, XML, SAP IDoc, Peppol and XRechnung frameworks, supporting onboarding, incident resolutions and change management across partner networks while maintaining outstanding service quality.

Qualifikationen

• Deep knowledge of EDI standards (EDIFACT, XML, X12, VDA) and related protocols.
• Familiarity with E-Invoicing frameworks (Peppol, XRechnung, FatturaPA) and regulatory needs.
• Strong communication, organisation and customer-facing skills.

• Serve as the primary technical contact for customer incidents, requests and changes.
• Manage EDI and E-Invoicing integrations, including mappings and partner connections.
• Troubleshoot integration issues with root-cause analysis and permanent fixes.

What you'll do

As aService Engineer (EDI, E-Invoicing), you act as the primary technical contactfor our existing customers, supporting stable operations and continuousimprovement of their EDI and E-Invoicing environments. Withexpertise in EDI standards and E-Invoicing frameworks, you ensure reliable andefficient operation of customer integrations - from incident resolution andchange management through to optimization and ongoing service excellence.

Key Responsibilites:

• Acting as the main technical contact for customers across incidents, service requests, and change requests, ensuring stable and efficient operations
• Managing and supporting EDI and E-Invoicing integrations, including configuration, maintenance of mappings, workflows, and partner connections
• Analyzing, troubleshooting, and resolving integration issues while performing root cause analysis and ensuring sustainable fixes
• Supporting onboarding of new business partners, including setup, testing, and validation of message flows across EDI and E-Invoicing processes
• Working with EDI standards and protocols (e.g., EDIFACT, ANSI X12, XML, SAP IDoc, VDA, AS2, OFTP2, APIs) and E-Invoicing frameworks (e.g., Peppol, ZUGFeRD/XRechnung, FatturaPA)
• Monitoring production environments and driving improvements in stability, performance, automation, and operational efficiency
• Collaborating closely with internal teams (Product, Development, Infrastructure, Project Management) and ensuring proper documentation and knowledge sharing

What you need

• Completed apprenticeship or university degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical hands-on experience, with several years of experience in EDI, E-Invoicing, or B2B/system integration environments
• Strong knowledge of EDI standards (e.g., EDIFACT, XML, ANSI X12, VDA), communication protocols (e.g., AS2, OFTP2, SFTP, HTTPS, APIs, Webservices), and ERP/B2B integration systems (e.g., SAP IDoc, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics)
• Good understanding of E-Invoicing frameworks (e.g., Peppol, ZUGFeRD, XRechnung, FatturaPA or similar) and related regulatory requirements
• Strong analytical, structured, and detail-oriented working style combined with high customer orientation, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in parallel
• Proactive, solution-oriented, and hands-on mindset with the ability to work independently, take ownership, and continuously develop expertise in EDI, E-Invoicing, and integration technologies
• Very good English skills (spoken and written); good German skills required for the Erfurt location; additional languages such as French, Spanish, or Italian are a plu
