Jobbeschreibung

Are you up for powering the future by Leading Digital Technology Engineering towards Digital excellence? Are you fostering strong and collaborative leadership in the OT and IT convergence era?

As our new Server Engineer, you will be part of the Digital Engineering arm of Project Delivery & Engineering where we stand at the forefront of working towards a fossil-free future. We are dedicated to executing major global infrastructure projects, navigating a dynamic and challenging environment to guarantee safety, promptness, quality, and budget compliance.

Within our Digital Engineering division, we specialize in delivering and integrating digital solutions aimed at facilitating renewable energy production and ensuring dependable operations. We oversee the whole value chain, from bid acquisition to asset construction and operation. Our focus lies on Operational Technology (OT) and IT, harnessing control and analytic modelling synergies to optimize engineering design through comprehensive data integration.

As one of the key functions in Vattenfall’s wind business, Digital Technology Engineering is responsible for supporting wind projects, operational sites and other business units in managing SCADA equipment, server infrastructure, data platforms, and control systems.

Be in your element with BA Wind

Our wind, solar and batteries business offers a unique opportunity to be in your element working to help harness the forces which will take us to fossil freedom.

As part of BA Wind, you will play a key role in one of the most exciting pipelines in the industry with 24GW of capacity stretching out more than a decade ahead across our key European markets.

You won’t only be involved in developing projects but pioneering cutting-edge innovation, new business models and ways of working with communities and the environment. Working as part of a leading European utility also means you could be helping a growing number of major businesses and brands achieve their own sustainability goals through partnerships.

Company Description

Vattenfall is a leading European energy company driving the transition to a sustainable energy system. We have been electrifying industries, powering homes and transforming life through innovation for more than 100 years. We employ around 21 000 people mostly in our core markets in Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, and the UK.

Qualifications

As a Server Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the secure, resilient, and efficient operation of our server and virtualization infrastructure supporting the OT landscape throughout the lifecycle of our wind farms.

Working closely with your colleagues, you will support both onshore and offshore wind portfolios. You will play a key role during project design, delivery, and operation phases, ensuring our server platforms meet the highest standards for performance, reliability, and cybersecurity.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Support and manage server infrastructure for SCADA, control systems, and related OT platforms across operational sites.
  • Design, deploy and maintain virtualized environments (VMware, Hyper-V, etc.) and physical servers.
  • Implement backup, patching, and update strategies in line with Vattenfall policies and regulatory frameworks.
  • Ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards and contribute to a hardened OT environment.
  • Provide technical leadership during incidents and changes affecting OT infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain detailed documentation of server architectures, configurations, and procedures.
  • Support the integration of server-based systems with central data centers and cloud/hybrid platforms.
  • Participate in on-call duties (24/7 roster) and support offshore/onshore interventions when needed.

Your profile – who are you?

You possess a degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, with at least 3 years of experience in server infrastructure engineering, ideally within the energy or industrial OT sector. You are a clear communicator and excel in working across functional teams and stakeholder groups.

You bring experience in:

  • Managing and operating Windows Server environments and Linux-based systems.
  • Virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V).
  • Backup, disaster recovery, and patch management strategies.
  • Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, and domain services integration.
  • Cybersecurity best practices for server environments in OT contexts.
  • Infrastructure automation (e.g., PowerShell, Ansible) is a plus.
  • Working in regulated or safety-critical environments.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is essential.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and product-oriented thinking is desirable.

Personal traits:

  • You have a strong personal drive and sense of ownership for your work.
  • A true team player who actively contributes to a collaborative spirit.
  • Able to navigate complex and sometimes unpredictable environments.
  • Structured, detail-oriented, and focused on quality and safety.
  • Passionate about continuous improvement and eager to learn from challenges.
  • See design and documentation as integral to successful engineering delivery.

Location: Kolding, Denmark
