Jobbeschreibung

About the Job

We are looking for an experienced and driven Senior Wet Cleaning Process Engineer (m/f/d) to join the Semiconductor FAB team at our partner company. In this role, you will lead the development, implementation, and scaling of advanced wet clean processes tailored to 2D materials (such as graphene) and novel device integration.

As a core member of the team building Black FabONE, you’ll play a pivotal role in establishing contamination-free wafer processing during both pilot line and high-volume production phases—shaping the future of next-generation semiconductor manufacturing.

Join our partner company: A German hardware startup focused on designing and manufacturing groundbreaking microchips. The company develops energy-efficient, high-performance components with the potential to redefine global semiconductor connectivity through graphene photonics.

In this role, you’ll:
  • Lead the development and implementation of wet clean processes designed for 2D material preparation and advanced device architectures
  • Own key fab startup activities, including tool installation, recipe validation, and process ramp-up
  • Define process specifications and select/qualify batch and single-wafer wet clean tools in collaboration with vendors and internal stakeholders
  • Establish and maintain Process of Record (POR) for critical cleaning steps and define ramp-to-production protocols
  • Coordinate with facilities and equipment teams to ensure robust integration of chemical delivery, return, and waste systems
  • Implement and manage Statistical Process Control (SPC) systems, driving continuous improvement through data-driven methods
  • Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and fab technicians as the organization grows
Your Profile
  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Engineering or a related technical field
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in semiconductor process engineering, focused on wet clean processes
  • Deep knowledge of contamination control, surface preparation, and post-process cleaning
  • Experience working with cleaning chemistries and tools (single-wafer and batch systems)
  • Exposure to 2D material processing (e.g., graphene) is a strong advantage
  • Practical experience in fab startups, pilot line setups, or technology ramp environments
  • Familiarity with chemical infrastructure systems (delivery, return, and waste management) in a fab setting
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills including Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and corrective action planning
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills within fast-paced, interdisciplinary teams

Please note that we are looking for support in the Aachenoffice of our portfolio company. Eligibility to work within the EU is required as well.

Benefits and Perks
  • Enjoy a comprehensive benefits package with excellent insurance and pension benefits as well as virtual stock options at the partner company
  • Benefit from an inspiring, creative and diverse environment with professional and motivated colleagues from all over the world
  • A transparent and open culture in which everyone is valued and respected
  • Take on challenging tasks and develop yourself by taking on responsibility from day 1 - a steep learning curve is guaranteed
  • A supportive environment where work-life balance is paramount
  • Become part of the Project A Family Network and get access to regular events, knowledge sharing and meetups
