We are looking for a Senior Underwriter Liability (m / f / d), based in Munich, Frankfurt, Köln, Hamburg or Stuttgart.

As a member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in driving strategic decisions, optimizing risk management strategies, and ensuring the sustainable growth of Allianz Commercial globally.

The Impact You Will Have

You will underwrite profitable new and renewal business to meet regional and global line of business targets. You will manage large key accounts and clients, including negotiation of participation, pricing, and terms and conditions, as well as train and develop the team and act as a referral point for senior underwriters. Developing and maintaining strong relationships with brokers and clients is crucial.

Some of your specific responsibilities include:

• Underwrite large, complex new and renewal accounts in line with governance frameworks (e.g., Authorities, MSU, Guidelines, Rules, Principles).
• Negotiate participation, pricing, and terms with brokers.
• Ensure accurate policy documentation and file maintenance.
• Drive acquisition of new business and retention of existing clients.
• Manage referrals and re-underwrite complex business as needed.
• Represent Allianz Commercial externally, including with large clients.
• Coordinate with functional areas like Risk Consulting, Claims, and Operations.
• Propose portfolio strategies and anticipate development trends.

What You’ll Bring to the Role

• A degree in Economics, Law, or related field.
• Professional insurance qualification (e.g., CII).
• Experience in cross-border Liability underwriting and understanding of products and portfolios.
• Ability to assess risks, exposures, and hazards.
• Established relationships with brokers and recognized expertise in the market.
• Knowledge of regional/local insurance markets, legal, and regulatory frameworks.
• Understanding of policy lifecycle and administration processes.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to synthesize information.
• Experience working in complex, global matrix organizations.
• Fluent German and good English skills.
• Experience with AI and ML applications in business processes is a plus.
