We are looking for a Senior Underwriter Liability (m / f / d), based in Munich, Frankfurt, Köln, Hamburg or Stuttgart.

Join our dynamic and diverse team as we lead the charge in shaping the future of global risk assessment and underwriting. As a member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in driving strategic decisions, optimizing risk management strategies, and ensuring the sustainable growth of Allianz Commercial worldwide.

The Impact You Will Have

You will underwrite profitable new and renewal business to meet the line of business targets regionally, including global elements. You will take ownership of large key accounts and clients, including negotiation of participation, pricing, and terms and conditions. You will also train and develop team members and act as a referral point for senior underwriters. Developing and maintaining strong relationships with brokers and clients is crucial.

Some of your specific responsibilities could include :

Underwrite large complex new and renewal accounts to meet targets in line with Liability governance frameworks, such as Underwriting Authorities, global MSU, Guidelines, Rules, and Principles.

Negotiate participation, pricing, and terms and conditions with brokers.

Ensure accurate policy documentation and file maintenance.

Proactively drive acquisition of new business and retention of existing business, including negotiations with clients and brokers where necessary.

Manage referrals from other underwriters and re-underwrite complex business as appropriate.

Represent Allianz Commercial externally to the market, including large clients.

Engage functional areas like Allianz Risk Consulting, Claims, and Operations in the underwriting process.

Propose an optimal portfolio structure and anticipate development trends.

What You’ll Bring to the Role

A degree in Economics, Law, or a related discipline is preferred.

Completion of a professional insurance qualification (e.g., CII).

Significant experience in cross-border underwriting of profitable Liability business, with a good understanding of products and portfolio management.

Ability to assess risks related to exposures and hazards relevant to Liability.

Established relationships with brokers and recognized expertise in the market.

Understanding of regional and local insurance markets, legal, and regulatory frameworks, including global elements.

Knowledge of the policy lifecycle, including information collection, issuance, premium bookings, credit control, and cancellations.

Strong analytical skills to interpret data and draw conclusions.

Experience working in complex, global matrix organizations.

Fluent German and good English skills are required.

Experience applying AI and ML to improve business processes is highly beneficial.
