The Senior Technical Service Technologist - Plant-based proteins is responsible for providing outstanding technical customer experience and driving innovation, to create superior customer-centric solutions. In addition, the incumbent is an expert in formulating, applying ingredients, understanding structural & functional relationships, and food processes. As the subject matter expert for plant-based proteins, they actively collaborate with the technical team to share their knowledge for both texture and healthful solutions.

Core Responsibilities :

Customer technical support :

  1. Act as the lead technical contact for assigned customers and key accounts, providing comprehensive technical expertise throughout the customers' innovation process to meet business growth targets.
  2. Conduct application trials involving formulation and process development or fine-tuning, in the presence of customers or at the customer's site. Work pro-actively on own ideas and utilize customer feedback to develop innovative food solutions.
  3. Utilize all resources to evaluate customers' recipes, ingredients, and processes to diagnose problems and apply food technology knowledge to give recommendations on the best solution.
  4. Organize visits to customers and/or visits from customers to the Ingredion Idea Labs (planning trials, meetings, and venue). Inquire, listen, and fully understand the needs of customers and work with the business team to quickly deliver innovative solutions.
  5. Record and share relevant customer activities and project updates in the customer relationship management system.

NPD knowledge sharing & stakeholder collaboration :

  1. Analyze and address complex technical issues and significantly improve, change, or adapt existing techniques.
  2. Develop strong relationships across key stakeholders in the technical and commercial teams and distributors to drive and prioritize projects & activities aligned with the strategy and maximize business return.
  3. Document technical work centrally and communicate project results internally as well as externally to customers.
  4. Evaluate customer and competitor portfolio, expertise, and services to gain insights and share knowledge with the team.
  5. Work with a diverse group of people within an international organization, leverage global resources to address local requirements and actively participate in cross-functional project teams.

Qualified candidate will have :

  1. Degree, or equivalent, in Food Technology or Food Engineering or other relevant discipline.
  2. Excellent knowledge of proteins with a strong focus on plant-based proteins - whether functional or flavors, interactions with different food ingredients, systems, and food processing.
  3. Strong experience in a Technical Service, New Product Development (NPD), Research & Development (R&D), or Applications team in specialty food ingredients.
  4. History of successful projects delivering product innovation.
  5. Advanced understanding of equipment and technologies to enable laboratory and pilot plant trials with a focus on these application areas.
  6. Ability to travel within the region up to 40% of the working time.
  7. Proven track record of working in a technical customer supporting role in the food ingredients industry.
