Position: Senior System Administrator IT Operations & Change Management

Location: Berlin, Germany

Job Purpose

We are looking for a skilled and proactive Senior System Administrator to join our IT Operations Management team. The role focuses on managing change processes within enterprise systems and providing 2nd level support. The position also plays a key part in monitoring IT infrastructure, maintaining system availability, and ensuring smooth ticket handling processes across the service lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

IT Infrastructure & Operations

  • Install, configure, operate, and monitor IT and communication services.
  • Ensure infrastructure security and compliance with current security standards.

Capacity & Availability Management

  • Monitor the performance and availability of IT services and resources.
  • Adjust system configurations to resolve performance bottlenecks or SLA risks.

Change, Release & Configuration Management

  • Implement change requests in alignment with established release procedures.
  • Document all modifications in designated configuration management databases.

️ Incident Handling & Technical Support (2nd Level)

  • Analyze and resolve incidents escalated from 1st level support (e.g., hardware/software faults).
  • Conduct remote troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Maintain and update knowledge base documentation (e.g., BeWiki).
  • Communicate effectively with end-users regarding incident resolution and status.

Required Qualifications

Education & Certification

  • Completed vocational training in IT (e.g., IT specialist) or university degree in IT or related field.
  • ITIL Foundation certification in IT service management.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in IT system administration.

Language Skills

  • German: C1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).

Professional Experience

  • At least 5 years in 2nd-level support involving:
    • Coordinating change tasks (including IMACD processes: Install, Move, Add, Change, Delete).
    • Incident handling and ticket processing.
  • At least 5 years of experience with Mobile Device Management (MDM)platforms and technologies.

Soft Skills

  • Excellent team collaboration and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong communication abilities, both verbal and written.
  • Professional demeanor and structured problem-solving approach.
    (All soft skills will be assessed during a phone or in-person interview.)
