This role requires a strong background in distributed systems and proficient knowledge in Java and Spring Boot. Fluency in English is mandatory; familiarity with German is a plus. Candidates should be based in Europe and possess unrestricted EU work rights.

vaylens develops innovative software and SaaS solutions for the marketing and management of charging stations for electric vehicles. The company supports operators in the management, control and monitoring of their charging infrastructures and offers technical support and training to ensure customers get the most out of the vaylens products. vaylens is based in Dortmund and part of the KOSTAL Group.

You can work from any locations within EU.

Main tasks, roles and responsibilities

• Analyse business requirements, translate them into use cases and define overarching data models and system interfaces for the mostly Java/Spring Boot microservices and mostly Angular frontends.
• Develop sustainable software solution architectures based on the business requirements and the architectural vision for the platform that balance performance, security, maintainability, cost‑efficiency, and scalability.
• Define cloud infrastructure requirements in collaboration with DevOps, ensuring alignment with modern cloud‑native best practices.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams.
• Evaluate and select appropriate technologies, frameworks, and tools.
• Conduct architectural reviews and ensure adherence to defined guideline, compliance & security standards.
• Coordinate architecture projects within the system landscape.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including product owners, project managers, developers, and DevOps engineers, within a scaled agile environment.
• Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to non‑technical stakeholders.
• Support DACH and international sales with customer specific solution and migration concepts.

Required Skills and Competencies

• Analytical mindset with an excellent understanding of complex technical relationships and hardware‑software communication.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in distributed international teams.
• Ability to present and communicate complex solution designs in a simple manner.
• Solid understanding of agile methodologies and experience in scaled agile environments (ideally organized with SAFe).
• Ideally, experience in the EV charging business.

Education

• University degree in Computer Sciences/Business Informatics or similar education.

Work experiences – time/seniority/ sector

• 3+ years of professional experience as a Solution/Enterprise/Integration/Software Architect in distributed systems and cloud‑native microservice landscapes.
• 5+ years of professional experience in software development within the Java Enterprise/Spring environment.

Technical / IT knowledge

• Extensive experience in designing and implementing distributed systems in cloud‑native environments (like AWS), with proficiency in Kubernetes.
• Proven track record in designing secure architectural solutions, including identity and access management, encryption and compliance with industry security standards.
• Experience with software quality assurance, ideally also in load and performance testing.
• Relevant certifications in the field of architecture are a plus.

Language – with level

• Fluent in English.
• Extended basic knowledge in German.

Mobility requirements

• As per need – approximately 8 - 16 working days per year to Germany or similar locations.
• Candidates must be based in Europe with unrestricted EU work and travel rights.
