Job summary

Apaleo is a hospitality tech platform powering the next generation of hotel operations, with an API-first approach. We seek a senior backend engineer to build scalable services, integrate AI-assisted tools, and contribute to a collaborative, fast-growing team.

The role emphasizes delivering robust features from DB to APIs, maintaining code quality, and operating in a modern containerised, cloud-based environment. English fluency is required; German is welcome and encouraged.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 5 years of software engineering experience.
• Proficient in .NET backend development with Kafka, AWS, Docker, ECS/Kubernetes and PostgreSQL.
• Experience using AI-assisted coding tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor AI, Claude Code) to accelerate development and documentation.
• Growth mindset towards exploring new AI technologies that impact engineering culture.
• Nice to have: Kafka real-time processing, AWS/Docker DevOps, PostgreSQL optimizations.
• Ability to break down epics into smaller issues.
• Experience with IaaS/PaaS/SaaS concepts.
• Experience with microservices and asynchronous messaging.
• Fluent English; German or other languages welcome.

Responsibilities

• Implement Core services for the platform in .NET 10 running in Docker containers.
• Develop features from database to APIs and ensure integration.
• Maintain scalability and clean, maintainable codebase.
• Monitor services in production and proactively spot issues.
• Ensure code quality with unit and end-to-end tests.

What You'll Be Up To:

• Implementing Core services for the platform in .NET 10 that runs in Docker containers;
• Developing features from DB to the APIs;
• Ensuring the platform remains scalable and the codebase remains maintainable;
• Proactively monitoring the services in production and spotting potential issues;
• Care about the quality of produced code by covering it with unit and e2e tests;

What You'll Bring to the Team:

• You have a degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience;
• You bring at least 5 years of experience working in software engineering with relevant programming experience;
• Proficient in .NET backend development, including technologies such as Kafka (or equivalents), AWS, Docker, ECS/Kubernetes, and PostgreSQL.
• Experience using AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor AI, Claude Code) to accelerate development, troubleshoot code, and generate documentation;
• A growth mindset toward continuously exploring new AI technologies that can positively impact our engineering culture and delivery pipeline.
• Nice to have: Experience applying Kafka for real-time processing, leveraging AWS/Docker for DevOps workflows, or performing PostgreSQL optimizations.
• You know how to break down large epics into smaller issues;
• You worked with the concepts of IaaS/ PaaS/ SaaS;
• You worked extensively with microservices-based architecture and used asynchronous message-based communication;
• You communicate fluently in English; German and any other languages are always welcomed;
