Job summary

Delivery Hero, the world’s leading local delivery platform, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build and scale the internal Payments engine for all markets. You will contribute to wallet, payment, and anti-fraud solutions worldwide and lead backend efforts in Java/Kotlin with Spring Boot, Hibernate, and JUnit.

You will own services end-to-end, drive CI/CD, and ensure reliability across multi-region distributed microservices, while mentoring peers and shaping architecture.

Qualifications

• Proven experience designing and delivering software systems in complex business domains at global scale, fintech or payments.
• Hands-on expertise in Java, Kotlin, Spring / Spring Boot, Hibernate, and JUnit.
• Strong ownership mindset with a passion for automation, CI/CD, and reliability.
• Experience with distributed microservices, on-call, and observability best practices.

• Design, build, and deliver highly scalable software systems in complex, global fintech environments.
• Lead backend engineering efforts with distributed systems using Java, Kotlin, Spring, Hibernate, and JUnit; drive architecture decisions.

Our Fintech team builds Wallet, Payment, and Anti-Fraud solutions worldwide. You’ll focus on the core payment features that manage the lifecycle of different payment flows, ensuring consistency and reliability of payment operations.

• Design, build, and deliver highly scalable software systems in complex, global environments used across more than 70 countries, applying secure coding practices throughout the development lifecycle
• Lead backend engineering efforts with a focus on distributed systems, using Java, Kotlin, Spring / Spring Boot, Hibernate, and JUnit, and drive architectural decisions for your features with design patterns, SOLID principles, and Domain-Driven Design
• Own services end-to-end with a “you build it, you run it” mindset, including infrastructure automation and continuous deployment
• Define and apply testing strategies across unit, integration, contract, and end-to-end levels
• Diagnose and resolve complex production issues across multi-region, distributed microservices, and promote reliability, on-call, and observability best practices
• Mentor teammates and evangelize engineering best practices to continuously improve how the team builds and ships software

• Proven experience designing and delivering software systems in complex business domains at global scale, within fintech or payments
• Deep backend engineering expertise, with a strong preference for distributed systems
• Hands‑on expertise in Java, Kotlin, Spring / Spring Boot, Hibernate, and JUnit
• A strong engineering ownership mindset with a passion for automation, CI/CD, and reliability
• Strong problem‑solving skills and curiosity in approaching complex challenges
• A high bar for quality, performance, and attention to detail
