Why this role is awesome:

At Vay, our Connectivity team is at the core of delivering low-latency, real-time video and telemetry streaming across cellular and satellite networks. In this role, you’ll work on one of the most technically thrilling challenges—building and optimizing our high-performance Networking Stack and deploying it on cutting-edge hardware.

You’ll contribute to the safety and efficiency of our remote driving system, working in a collaborative team that values precision, resilience, and reliability. If you love performance tuning, debugging live systems, and keeping your code elegant under pressure, this is your chance to shape the core of Vay’s tech stack.

What you'll be driving:
  • Build and maintain a high-performance, low-latency network stack transporting video, audio, control, and telemetry data.

  • Integrate our network stack into various hardware and software platforms.

  • Continuously improve system performance by profiling, benchmarking, and optimizing.

  • Extend and maintain network testbeds and CI infrastructure to ensure robust deployment pipelines.

  • Analyze production incidents and implement fixes to improve system reliability and performance.

What are we looking for:
  • Strong proficiency in modern C++ (C++17 or later) with a focus on multi-threaded, high-performance applications.

  • Solid foundation in networking fundamentals and protocols (TCP/UDP).

  • Comfortable working in Linux environments with deep system-level understanding.

  • Experience with distributed systems and real-time data transport.

  • Proven ability to profile, analyze, and optimize systems end-to-end.

  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

Nice to have:
  • Understanding of networking and wireless technologies, including LTE/5G, WiFi, Starlink, and experience with tools like Wireshark for traffic analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with streaming protocols, such as RTP/RTCP/RTMP/SRT, and media frameworks, such as GStreamer, FFmpeg, or DirectShow.
  • Familiarity with congestion control algorithms and network simulation environments.
  • Experience with building and deployment (e.g. CMake, Docker, Yocto), and scripting languages such as Python or Lua.
  • Experience in real-time or embedded systems development, with knowledge of modem configuration via AT commands.
  • Background in performance analysis and debugging, using tools like perf, perfetto; and graphical UIs like ImGui
