Responsibilities
- Lead the review and analysis of configuration requirement allocations and gap assessments, ensuring compliance through robust traceability methods.
- Manage the end-to-end delivery of subsystem configurations, including creation, verification, and control of all related documentation.
- Ensure that all configuration data, documentation, and executable files are handled in accordance with internal processes, quality standards, and configuration control practices.
- Continuously evaluate configuration workflows (input data handling, data preparation, parameter generation) to identify process / tool inefficiencies and implement improvement actions.
- Analyse and address feedback from validation activities and onsite testing, integrating lessons into future configuration strategies.
- Maintain and enhance a structured lessons-learned database, systematically documenting design issues, tool / process limitations, and corrective actions taken.
- Oversee the accurate and timely delivery of configured executable files to validation and field-testing teams.
- Contribute to the definition and refinement of requirements for configuration and design tools, ensuring they support effective and scalable configuration management.
Technical skills, qualifications and professional experience
- University degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical, Electronic, or Computer Engineering, or Information Technology.
- 5 to 10 years of hands-on experience in signalling configuration within complex railway projects.
- Excellent command of both German and English (minimum level C1).
- In-depth knowledge of German railway signalling and control systems.
- Proven expertise in managing configuration lifecycles, from requirements capture through to production, testing, and final delivery.
- Strong background in configuration control and documentation management in regulated, safety-critical environments.
- Demonstrated experience in identifying and resolving inefficiencies in configuration processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
Desired skills / knowledge
- Strong knowledge and experience in railway signalling projects, particularly with Interlocking (IXL) systems and the European Train Control System (ETCS).
- Familiarity with configuration management processes, tools, and documentation practices specific to railway signalling.
- Experience in requirements analysis, traceability management, and gap analysis techniques.
- Proficiency in managing subsystem configurations, including documentation, production, validation, and verification processes.
- Ability to identify and address inefficiencies in configuration processes, implement continuous improvement actions, and effectively manage lessons-learned databases.
- Knowledge of validation, testing, and integration activities within railway signalling projects.
- Familiarity with the creation and maintenance of executable files, including their handover for validation and on-site testing.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to address feedback from validation tests and site trials.
- Good communication skills to contribute effectively to defining tool and configuration requirements.
