Our client is a major player in the European energy trading sector, operating across international markets and playing a key role in the energy transition. Their focus is on optimising energy assets and trading across power and gas markets, with a strong emphasis on innovation, sustainability, and data-driven decision-making.

The Senior Short-Term Analyst will be part of a high-performing trading team, supporting commercial decisions through detailed short-term forecasting, market analysis, and collaboration across asset management and trading operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide short-term and Spot market analysis, including daily price forecasts
• Assess market coupling and its impact on Intraday trading and battery optimisation (aFRR / PICASSO)
• Generate and present trading strategies for short-term and prompt Power and Gas markets
• Identify market trends and key drivers to support trading and portfolio decisions
• Collaborate with analysts, traders, and IT to improve tools and models
• Act as a key contact point between Trading, Asset Management, and internal technical teams
• Manage stakeholder communications for Flex-related projects
• Support the development and refinement of algorithmic trading strategies

Skills and Experience Required

• University degree in economics, finance, engineering, physics, or a related field
• Solid understanding of German Day-Ahead, Intraday, and ancillary service markets
• Experience in asset optimisation, physical power trading, and renewables integration
• Knowledge of both power and gas trading is an advantage
• Proven track record of contributing to commercial performance (P&L)
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with a hands-on approach
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Familiarity with 24 / 7 trading operations is a plus
• Fluency in English and German
