Permanent, full- or part-time position based in Martinsried.

To support and strengthen our Scientific Services department, we are seeking a motivated and dedicated Senior Scientist with a passion for innovation and the advancement of molecular genetic diagnostics and reporting. Join our Molecular Genetics department as soon as possible.

In this role, you will be part of a team of highly motivated scientists and physicians that emphasize high-quality interpretation of genetic sequences in relation to the clinical picture of each case. Medicover Genetics has a large international portfolio, including single gene and rare disease diagnostic panels across 16 medical specialties, as well as whole exome and whole genome sequencing. This position is located in our central laboratory, which employs over 300 scientists, medical, and technical staff. You will also collaborate closely with the Molecular Diagnostics Teams in Poland and Romania.

Your main responsibility will be to provide molecular genetic reports based on data generated from next-generation sequencing, including single gene, panel, and whole exome analyses. We offer comprehensive onboarding, training, and access to our data analysis platform. You will analyze sequencing data using our updated pipeline and interpret each case within the full clinical context. You will receive support from our extensive expertise across medical specialties and genetic diagnostics. Additionally, you will support our regional sales team by offering molecular diagnostic testing to local partners.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Scientific evaluation of molecular genetic test results from routine diagnostics (NGS data, Sanger sequencing, MLPA)
2. Evaluation of results in a clinical context and preparation of genetic reports
3. Supporting diagnostics through continuous updates of the portfolio and information materials
4. Cross-functional communication with stakeholders, including medical, scientific, marketing, sales, and operations teams
5. Establishing, validating, and incorporating new diagnostic methods and techniques into routine diagnostics
6. Presenting medical-scientific contributions at national and international congresses

Your qualifications:

1. Degree in life sciences (biology, molecular diagnostics, or a similar field); advanced degree preferred
2. Profound knowledge of genetics, molecular genetics, and human biology
3. Interest in genetic indications and diagnostics
4. Experience in human genetic diagnostics is desirable
5. Responsible, independent, and solution-oriented working attitude
6. Ability to work in a team, with commitment and flexibility
7. Motivation to learn new specialist areas and technologies
8. Fluent German and excellent English skills, both written and spoken
