The Role

As Senior Research Scientist Molecular Biology, you will be part of an exciting international R&D and business environment, working with cutting-edge technologies involved in a broad portfolio of diverse projects. The role requires a strong background in Molecular Biology and Fungal genetics, preferably in Aspergillus species. It includes opportunities for development and an attractive compensation package.

Your key responsibilities will be:

1. Join our team of highly dedicated and skilled experts inside the Molecular Biology discipline.
2. Contribute significantly to projects for production platform development (e.g., Aspergillus), continuous strain improvement, and enzyme products.
3. Design, plan, and execute experiments in laboratories; provide technical supervision for colleagues in fungal strain development.
4. Responsible for troubleshooting, continuous improvement of protocols and methods for higher throughput.
5. Work closely with cross-functional project teams and key internal stakeholders.
6. Based in Darmstadt, Germany, interfacing with global R&D teams in Germany and Finland, as well as other disciplines (e.g., Application Development, Regulatory Affairs).

About You

1. You hold a master’s degree (or higher) in Molecular Biology or related sciences, with 3+ years of industry experience in a similar role.
2. Solid experience with fungal production platforms (e.g., Aspergillus), familiarity with strain engineering, and ideally automation expertise.
3. Familiarity with bacterial production platforms (e.g., Bacillus) is a plus.
4. You are innovative, goal-oriented, hands-on, passionate about applied sciences, a team player, and possess strong problem-solving skills.
5. You communicate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
6. Good written and verbal English skills; German language skills are a plus.
