The Audiovisual Technology Laboratory in Huawei's Munich Research Center focuses on developing signal processing and machine learning solutions for audio, music, and speech to enhance the audio experience for millions of users.

We are seeking a Senior Research Engineer - Spatial Audio (m/f/d).

Your mission:
  • Conduct applied research in spatial audio technologies, including 3D audio rendering, binaural audio, and immersive sound experiences for various applications.
  • Design, implement, and optimize systems for spatial audio capturing, processing, and rendering.
  • Perform objective and subjective evaluations to assess audio system and algorithm performance, ensuring an exceptional user experience.
  • Collaborate with international teams to integrate spatial audio solutions into products.
  • Stay updated on industry trends; evaluate new solutions and technologies for internal demonstrations.
  • Foster innovation through project building, collaborations, and strategic partnerships.
Your areas of expertise:
  • PhD or M.S. in Acoustical or Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
  • Specialization and practical experience in at least one of the following:
  1. Audio signal processing for spatial audio, binaural hearing, microphone processing, or speech enhancement.
  2. Perception and 3D user experience.
  3. Acoustic and system design for headphones and loudspeakers.
  4. Machine Learning or Artificial Intelligence applied to audio.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to translate user needs into design decisions.
  • Experience in project management and industry-academia interface is a plus.
  • Independent, well-structured, with a proactive attitude.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
