Huawei's Munich Research Center is responsible for advanced technology research, architectural development, design, and strategic engineering of our products.

The Advanced Wireless Technologies Lab (AWTL) focuses on research activities related to the definition and development of future mobile network technologies and communication systems. AWTL has engaged in multiple research and standardization activities, including European Commission funded Horizon 2020 projects, contributions to industrial communication fora such as 5G-AA, 5G-ACIA, and transferring technologies to bodies like 3GPP, ETSI, GSMA, NGMN. The lab also develops in-house experimental platforms, prototypes, and proof of concepts for wireless and networking technologies. Recently, the focus has shifted to next-generation (6G) wireless networks and technologies towards 2030.

Your mission

We seek an enthusiastic, highly motivated candidate passionate about MIMO and AI. Your responsibilities will include:

• Conducting in-depth research on next-generation wireless communication systems, focusing on MIMO techniques, including novel protocols, signal processing, and network architectures to enhance data rates, latency, and spectral efficiency.
• Designing and developing innovative wireless solutions and prototypes using tools such as C++ and Python for simulation, modeling, and testing.
• Exploring the integration of emerging technologies like AI and ML into wireless systems to enhance massive MIMO capabilities.
• Staying updated on industry standards and regulations (e.g., 3GPP, ITU) and contributing to standard development through industry forums and conferences.
• Collaborating with academic and industry partners on research projects to advance wireless communication technologies globally.

Your areas of expertise

• PhD or M.S. in wireless communication or related field
• Experience in Massive MIMO or distributed MIMO system signal processing algorithms
• Knowledge of channel estimation for massive MIMO systems
• Experience applying AI to massive MIMO system design
• Proficiency in C/C++ and Python
• Familiarity with 5G NR and 4G LTE standards
• Independent, structured work style with a proactive attitude
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken
