Senior Project & Partnership Delivery Lead - Precision Medicine
Company Overview
Our client is a growing healthcare technology business applying artificial intelligence to oncology and precision medicine. Working with pharmaceutical and diagnostic partners, the company helps translate complex biological and imaging data into insights that support drug development and targeted treatment decisions.
The Role
This position takes ownership of complex partnerships across pharmaceutical research, biomarker development and companion diagnostics (CDx).
You will bridge scientific requirements with data and software delivery, leading projects from initial planning through execution. The role combines project leadership, commercial accountability and people management, with the autonomy to resolve challenges, negotiate priorities and make decisions.
The focus is on pharma and diagnostic partnerships. Clinical laboratory deployment and support sit with a separate team.
Why This Role Exists
As the partnership portfolio grows, the business needs an experienced delivery leader who can take ownership of complex programmes, strengthen client relationships and develop a scalable approach to project management.
Working closely with senior leadership, you will take responsibility for delivery decisions, client negotiations and the development of a small project management team.
Outcomes You’ll Own
Delivery leadership
- Take ownership of key accounts and ongoing projects, resolving delivery bottlenecks, escalations and scope questions.
- Stabilise complex or at-risk programmes through realistic planning, clear milestones and proactive risk management.
- Establish a reliable portfolio view of progress, resourcing and delivery health.
Commercial ownership
- Lead client discussions around scope changes, pricing, renewals and account expansion.
- Identify and progress opportunities to grow existing partnerships, working closely with sales.
- Support strong client retention and sustainable account growth.
- Coach and develop junior project managers to independently lead increasingly complex programmes.
- Act as their first point of escalation, strengthening both delivery discipline and decision-making.
Process improvement
- Build practical playbooks, templates and standard operating procedures for pharma and diagnostic projects.
- Introduce automation and appropriate AI tools to improve reporting, onboarding and routine project administration.
What You’ll Do
Project ownership and execution
- Lead high-priority pharma and CDx programmes from planning through delivery.
- Translate scientific, pathology and drug-development requirements into clear specifications for engineering and data teams.
- Anticipate data bottlenecks, regulatory considerations and resource constraints, putting mitigation plans in place early.
- Make informed decisions on scope, timelines and resources, communicating the rationale clearly to stakeholders.
- Take over challenging projects where required, rebuilding delivery plans and client confidence.
Client and stakeholder management
- Serve as a senior point of contact for pharmaceutical and diagnostic partners.
- Manage challenging conversations about delays, technical limitations and changing requirements.
- Negotiate practical solutions that balance client expectations, scientific quality and commercial commitments.
- Build strong working relationships across engineering, data science and medical teams.
People leadership
- Lead project reviews and coach team members on problem‑solving, stakeholder management and sound judgement.
- Set clear delivery standards and maintain accountability across the project portfolio.
- Support the team through complex decisions and client escalations.
Process and scalability
- Develop reusable frameworks that improve consistency across projects.
- Track delivery performance, client satisfaction and operational efficiency.
- Provide senior leadership with clear visibility of risks, priorities and progress.
What You’ll Bring
- Demonstrated ownership of complex, client‑facing projects in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, diagnostics or medical technology.
- A track record of recovering challenging or at-risk projects and delivering tangible outcomes.
- A degree in biological sciences, biomedical sciences, medicine or a related discipline, with the scientific understanding to translate complex requirements into technical deliverables. A PhD is advantageous but not essential.
- Experience leading commercial discussions with clients, including scope negotiations and account expansion.
- Confidence making decisions with incomplete information and taking responsibility for the outcome.
- The ability to challenge assumptions, identify root causes and resolve problems pragmatically.
- Composure under pressure and adaptability within a growing business.
- Experience improving project management processes, systems or tools.
- Strong written and spoken English.
Who Will Thrive
This role suits someone who combines scientific credibility with commercial awareness and strong execution. You will be comfortable moving beyond task tracking to understand the underlying technical challenge, make decisions and lead clients through difficult trade-offs.
You should enjoy developing others, creating structure where it is needed and balancing scientific ambition with delivery commitments.
