Location : Remote from Germany with travel to London

Job Type : Contract - 18 months +

We are partnering with a leading European energy trading firm currently undergoing an extensive digital transformation. As part of this initiative, they are embarking on a comprehensive data centre migration and seek an accomplished Senior Project Manager to drive the project to successful delivery.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing enterprise-level data centre relocations or migrations, preferably within trading, commodities, or financial services sectors. Experience working within cloud-enabled infrastructures is critical, alongside a proactive and methodical approach to project leadership.

Responsibilities :

  • Lead and manage the full data centre migration programme from inception to completion
  • Identify, select, and secure a new data centre site in alignment with business needs
  • Plan and oversee infrastructure design, build, and deployment
  • Coordinate closely with security and disaster recovery (DR) teams to ensure resilience and compliance
  • Manage the migration of all applications, including business-critical and real-time trading systems
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, timelines, budgets, and risk registers
  • Act as the primary interface between technical teams and business stakeholders in both the UK and Germany
  • Ensure alignment of project activities with broader digital transformation objectives
  • Communicate project progress, risks, and dependencies clearly to senior leadership and key stakeholders
  • Foster collaboration across global teams and manage third-party vendors and service providers where necessary
  • Ensure the smooth transition to cloud-enabled infrastructures and hybrid environments
  • Maintain strict governance and reporting in line with organisational standards and best practices

Required Skills & Experience :

  • Demonstrated success in leading large-scale data centre migration or relocation projects
  • Strong expertise in cloud technologies and infrastructure planning
  • A background in commodities, trading, or financial services sectors
  • Fluency in both German and English (mandatory)
  • The ability to manage complex, international stakeholder landscapes confidently
  • Willingness to travel between Germany and the UK as required (travel costs covered)
