Project Management Excellence Specialist

The Project Management Excellence Specialist is responsible for establishing and driving project management excellence across the Procurement Digitalization portfolio. Rather than managing individual projects, the role focuses on defining how projects are managed, governed, and measured across the organization. The primary objective is to improve delivery effectiveness, increase transparency, enable informed decision-making, and ensure projects achieve their intended business outcomes. As a trusted advisor to project leads and senior stakeholders, the Project Management Excellence Specialist identifies systemic delivery challenges, drives continuous improvement, and builds the capabilities required for sustainable project success.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Management Excellence & Standards: Establish and continuously improve a common project management framework across the organization. Define standards, methodologies, and governance principles that enable consistent, pragmatic, and value-focused delivery across the digital project portfolio.
• Value Creation & Benefits Realization: Embed value creation and benefits realization as core principles of project and portfolio management. Ensure that initiatives are aligned with business objectives, deliver measurable outcomes, and support strategic priorities.
• Portfolio Governance, Transparency & Strategic Steering: Create end-to-end transparency across the project portfolio, including delivery performance, risks, dependencies, resources, investments, and expected business outcomes. Provide actionable insights, governance mechanisms, and decision support to enable effective portfolio steering, prioritization, and resource allocation.
• Project Quality & Health Checks: Establish a structured approach to project quality assurance and health assessments. Identify delivery risks, governance gaps, and improvement opportunities early, and support corrective actions where required.
• Project Leadership & Enablement: Act as a trusted advisor and sparring partner for project leads, business stakeholders, and senior leadership. Strengthen project management capabilities through coaching, best-practice sharing, and the development of a strong project management community.

Required Experience & Skills

Significant experience in project, portfolio, or transformation management within digital, technology, or business transformation environments. Proven track record of establishing or improving project management practices, governance models, or PMO capabilities. Strong understanding of project governance, portfolio management, risk management, and benefits realization. Experience working in complex, international, and cross-functional organizations. Strong communication, facilitation, and executive stakeholder management skills. Ability to translate strategic objectives into practical project management structures and approaches. Pragmatic, hands-on mindset with the ability to balance structure and speed. Experience in digital transformation initiatives involving data, automation, AI, or technology-enabled business change is desirable.
