Senior Project Engineering Manager (m/w/d)
Project management
- Scope of work & time schedule
Accountable for consolidation of provisional drawing list issue with submission dates and global time schedule of engineering activities. - Ensure follow-up of critical activities is done regularly by discipline PEMs ('Project Engineering Managers').
Time delivery mastery
- Support work-package to anticipate and mitigate delivery issues.
- Coordinate with discipline engineers on delivery times of technical interfaces and ensure interface sheets are in place and followed.
- Challenge the global time schedule for engineering activities in collaboration with PEMs and planners.
- Ensure technical disciplines are coordinated in terms of interfaces and synchronization.
Budget and Resources
- Responsible for the project engineering budget, with monthly follow-up, identifying savings and deviations, and ensuring proper allocation by WBS for consistent ROI.
- Communication: Animate Visual Management sessions / I-Obeya.
Project strategy & risk management
- Develop engineering execution strategy.
- Participate in project strategy elaboration with the Project Director.
- Define and validate the design quality plan for the entire engineering scope.
- Implement EMH guidelines.
- Consolidate and monitor technical risks & opportunities and mitigation plans.
- Implement design freeze process and validate following reviews and risk assessments.
Customer relationship
- Manage engineering execution in front of the customer; act as the main contact for engineering topics.
- Ensure compliance with customer technical requirements and organize clause-by-clause analysis and certification activities.
- Track and manage customer comments and exceptions.
- Coordinate responses and technical meetings with the customer.
Document & configuration management
- Coordinate technical document management with the integration & interface Manager and document controller.
- Validate engineering documents before release.
- Track customer comments and responses.
- Manage project documentation status and deviations.
Design expediting
- Ensure on-time delivery of engineering.
- Check design effectiveness against contract requirements and optimize costs.
- Approve document transmittals and review subcontracting files.
- Coordinate execution of OMM.
Process & Tools
- Ensure deployment of engineering tools (CAD, PDM/DMS).
- Define design management tools.
- Organize design review plans and meetings.
- Integrate EHS requirements.
- Set up and report engineering KPIs.
- Manage non-conformance reports involving engineering.
Sourcing & Procurement, Supplier/Partner management
Support PEM integration on management of interfaces with subcontractors, customers, and third parties.
Quality
- Comply with quality procedures and report non-conformances.
Health and Safety
- Implement design freeze and EHS in design.
- Lead EHS initiatives and ensure Zero Deviation.
- Model safe behaviours and participate in corrective actions.
Desired Profile and Experience
- 10+ years in Engineering within EPC environments (T&D, Power Gen, Oil & Gas).
- Experience with processes like Civil, Plant configuration, control & protection hardware, etc.
- Proven project technical management experience on large projects.
- Strong influencing and relationship skills.
- Knowledge of project risks and financials.
- Willingness to travel and work internationally.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
