Job Description

Senior Project Engineering Manager (m/w/d)

Project management

1. Scope of work & time schedule
   Accountable for consolidation of provisional drawing list issue with submission dates and global time schedule of engineering activities.
2. Ensure follow-up of critical activities is done regularly by discipline PEMs ('Project Engineering Managers').

Time delivery mastery

1. Support work-package to anticipate and mitigate delivery issues.
2. Coordinate with discipline engineers on delivery times of technical interfaces and ensure interface sheets are in place and followed.
3. Challenge the global time schedule for engineering activities in collaboration with PEMs and planners.
4. Ensure technical disciplines are coordinated in terms of interfaces and synchronization.

Budget and Resources

1. Responsible for the project engineering budget, with monthly follow-up, identifying savings and deviations, and ensuring proper allocation by WBS for consistent ROI.
2. Communication: Animate Visual Management sessions / I-Obeya.

Project strategy & risk management

1. Develop engineering execution strategy.
2. Participate in project strategy elaboration with the Project Director.
3. Define and validate the design quality plan for the entire engineering scope.
4. Implement EMH guidelines.
5. Consolidate and monitor technical risks & opportunities and mitigation plans.
6. Implement design freeze process and validate following reviews and risk assessments.

Customer relationship

1. Manage engineering execution in front of the customer; act as the main contact for engineering topics.
2. Ensure compliance with customer technical requirements and organize clause-by-clause analysis and certification activities.
3. Track and manage customer comments and exceptions.
4. Coordinate responses and technical meetings with the customer.

Document & configuration management

1. Coordinate technical document management with the integration & interface Manager and document controller.
2. Validate engineering documents before release.
3. Track customer comments and responses.
4. Manage project documentation status and deviations.

Design expediting

1. Ensure on-time delivery of engineering.
2. Check design effectiveness against contract requirements and optimize costs.
3. Approve document transmittals and review subcontracting files.
4. Coordinate execution of OMM.

Process & Tools

1. Ensure deployment of engineering tools (CAD, PDM/DMS).
2. Define design management tools.
3. Organize design review plans and meetings.
4. Integrate EHS requirements.
5. Set up and report engineering KPIs.
6. Manage non-conformance reports involving engineering.

Sourcing & Procurement, Supplier/Partner management

Support PEM integration on management of interfaces with subcontractors, customers, and third parties.

Quality

• Comply with quality procedures and report non-conformances.

Health and Safety

• Implement design freeze and EHS in design.
• Lead EHS initiatives and ensure Zero Deviation.
• Model safe behaviours and participate in corrective actions.

Desired Profile and Experience

• 10+ years in Engineering within EPC environments (T&D, Power Gen, Oil & Gas).
• Experience with processes like Civil, Plant configuration, control & protection hardware, etc.
• Proven project technical management experience on large projects.
• Strong influencing and relationship skills.
• Knowledge of project risks and financials.
• Willingness to travel and work internationally.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
