Hunter Philips Executive Search is seeking an experienced Senior BESS Permitting / Development Manager based in Hamburg to take ownership of permitting activities across its German storage portfolio. You will manage planning and approval processes, working with development and legal teams while engaging municipalities and authorities.

There may also be scope to support broader legal and commercial matters, including EPC contracting.

Qualifikationen

• 2–5+ years in BESS, renewables, infrastructure, permitting or related legal work.
• Strong knowledge of German planning, permitting and/or public law.
• Experience with municipalities and permitting authorities.
• BESS or renewable energy experience highly desirable.
• EPC or construction contract experience advantageous.
• Fluent German; strong English advantageous.

The Company

A fast-growing energy storage developer focused on utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects across Germany.

Combining the agility of an entrepreneurial developer with the backing of a larger energy group, the company has a substantial pipeline of projects ranging from 10MW to several 600MW and is expanding its Hamburg team.

The Role

The company is looking for an experienced Senior BESS Permitting / Development Manager to take ownership of permitting activities across its German storage portfolio.

Based in Hamburg, you will manage planning and approval processes, working closely with the development and legal teams while engaging directly with municipalities and authorities.

There may also be scope to support broader legal and commercial matters, including EPC contracting.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage permitting processes for utility-scale BESS projects across Germany.

The Person

• 2–5+ years of relevant experience within BESS, renewables, infrastructure, permitting or a related legal environment.
• Strong understanding of German planning, permitting and/or public law.
• Experience working with municipalities and permitting authorities.
• BESS or renewable energy experience is highly desirable.
• Candidates from a public, planning, administrative or energy law background are also encouraged to apply.
• Able to independently manage permitting matters and take ownership of projects.
• EPC or construction contract experience would be advantageous.
• Fluent German required, with strong English skills advantageous.
