The AI Startup Xayn develops Noxtua, Europe's leading sovereign Legal AI. The legally compliant and competent AI helps legal professionals to research legal issues, review, and draft legal documents. The GDPR-compliant Legal AI meets high professional and data protection requirements for lawyers (§ 203 Penal Code, § 43e Federal Lawyers' Act) and is certified according to ISO 27001, 9001, 27018, 27017, 42001, and BSI C5. The product version Beck-Noxtua is based on the exclusive data of Germany’s leading legal publisher C.H.Beck and Germany’s largest business law firm CMS.

Emerging from a 2017 research project by Dr. Leif-Nissen Lundbæk and Professor Dr. Michael Huth at Oxford University and Imperial College London, the Berlin-based Legal-Tech company, formerly known as Xayn, boasts extensive experience in developing highly efficient GDPR-compliant AI solutions. Strategic partners, including Germany's leading legal publisher C.H.Beck, the High-Performance Computing specialist Northern Data, Germany's largest business law firm and co-initiator of the Legal AI Noxtua CMS, as well as the world's largest law firm Dentons, have invested a total of €80.7 million in the German startup as part of its Series B funding round.

Your Mission

As Senior Product Designer (m/f/d), you will be responsible for designing intuitive, accessible, and user-centered experiences for our Legal AI solutions. You will work closely with lawyers, researchers, and engineers to ensure our product is both highly functional and easy to use. Your role will involve conducting user research, usability testing, iterating on designs, handing over final designs, and working with engineers during development to ensure optimal execution.

Your Team

You will be part of one of our two cross-functional product teams, collaborating closely with engineers, product managers, and other designers. The team consists of 6-7 developers, a product manager, and a designer, working on prototyping, accessibility, UX, usability testing, and UI design based on our existing design system.

Your Hiring Manager

You will report to Ruth, Chief Product Officer at Xayn, who leads the product and design strategy for Noxtua, our Legal AI solution. Ruth has extensive experience in product management and user-centric design and is passionate about creating intuitive and impactful digital products. She fosters a collaborative and agile work environment, ensuring seamless collaboration among design, engineering, and product teams. Ruth values user feedback, accessibility, and innovation, advocating for human-centered AI solutions.

Your Responsibilities

• Lead the UX/UI design process, ensuring a balance of 60% UX and 40% UI design, with a strong focus on accessibility and usability.
• Conduct user research, usability testing, and user feedback analysis to continuously improve the product experience.
• Prototype and iterate on designs, ensuring that legal professionals can efficiently interact with AI-powered tools.
• Ensure compliance with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) to make our platform inclusive and usable for all users.
• Work hands-on in all design phases, from concept to final implementation, collaborating closely with your cross-functional team.
• Advocate for user-centered design by collecting insights, validating ideas through user testing, and refining designs based on feedback.
• Stay up to date with conversational AI trends (e.g., Gemini, ChatGPT) and explore how they can enhance user interactions.

• 5–7 years of experience in product design, with a focus on UX/UI, accessibility, and user-centered design.
• Strong expertise in Figma, prototyping, and usability testing methodologies.
• Deep understanding of accessibility principles.
• Fluent German (C2 level) with the ability to communicate professionally with legal professionals.
• No prior AI experience required, but familiarity and a strong interest in conversational AI tools (e.g., Gemini, ChatGPT) and productivity apps.
• Startup mindset – adaptability, problem-solving skills, and a passion for working in a fast-growing environment.

• Working hours: Flexible working hours, full-time (32-40h/week).
