The Design System is the foundation for delivering a seamless experience for our Merchants across all of SumUp's world-class products and services. By joining our newly formed Design System Team, you will support our entire organization in curating exceptional merchant and customer experiences. You will be part of a centralized design team that influences the overall direction of SumUp’s look & feel and ensures design quality across all facets of the UI including illustrations, motion, UX content, and accessibility best practices.

In this role you will

• Drive the vision for SumUp’s Design System, extending and enhancing the existing component library for both mobile and web.
• Execute UI components and UX patterns with attention to detail, considering different use cases and OS developments and trends.
• Engage proactively with designers across the company to gather feedback and optimize the experience across different touch points and platforms.
• Support multi-disciplinary teams during implementation of the design system.
• Evangelize the use of the Design System within the organization and maintain detailed documentation to facilitate its adoption.

You will collaborate with

• Senior design leaders to evolve the look & feel of the experience, using your interaction, visual, and prototyping skills to create a system of reusable UI components and interaction patterns.
• Brand experts for icon and illustration assets.
• Motion and content experts for enriched guidelines to ensure quality and consistency.
• Design system engineers to implement the Design System in a scalable, accessible manner.

Your Profile

• 5+ years of experience as a UX/UI Designer, with expertise in visual principles, systems design, and a strong portfolio demonstrating UX skills.
• Experience designing and implementing high-quality design components and UX patterns, upholding high standards and shared vision.
• Proven advocacy for UI consistency with cross-functional teams through various communication channels.
• Strong collaboration skills to negotiate scalable, usable solutions, balancing communication, persuasion, and negotiation.
• Effective communication of decisions and directions to stakeholders.
• Ability to work comfortably in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
• BA or MA in Design or related fields, or equivalent work experience in product design.
