The Design System is the foundation for delivering a seamless experience for our Merchants across all of SumUp's world class products and services. By joining our newly formed Design System Team, you will support our entire organization in curating exceptional merchant and customer experiences. You will be part of a centralized design team that influences the overall direction of SumUp’s look & feel and ensure design quality across all facets of the UI including illustrations, motion, UX content and accessibility best practices.

In this role you will

Drive the vision for SumUp’s Design System, extending and enhancing the existing component library to bring it to the next level, for both mobile and web

Execute UI components and UX patterns with attention to detail, taking into consideration different use cases and incorporating OS developments and trends

Proactively engage with the designers across the company to get feedback and optimize the experience across different touch points and platforms

Support multi-disciplinary teams during implementation of the design system

Evangelize the use of the Design System in the chapter, and maintain detailed documentation to facilitate its adoption

You will collaborate with

Senior design leaders to evolve the look & feel of the experience, using your full set of interaction, visual and prototyping skills to capture the direction in a system of reusable UI components and interaction patterns

Our brand experts for icon and illustration assets

Motion and content experts for enriched guidelines to bring quality and consistency to our experience

Design system engineers to implement the Design System in a scalable manner, incorporating our commitment to accessibility

Your Profile

You have 5+ years of experience as a UX/UI Designer, with deep expertise in visual principles, systems design, solid experience in UX as demonstrated through portfolio or case studies

You have designed and implemented best-of-class design components and UX patterns and commit to upholding the highest standards and a shared vision

You have proven yourself to be a strong advocate for UI consistency with designers, engineers, product managers, and executives through writing, visuals, and presentations

You are a strong collaborator with teams to negotiate scalable, usable solutions, finding the right balance between communication, persuasion and negotiation

You communicate decisions and direction effectively to different stakeholders

You are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and can adapt to changing priorities and needs

BA or MA in Design or related fields, or complementary studies and deep work experience in product design
