Senior Process Engineer HVAC (m/w/d)

In Alzey, Germany Lilly is constructing a new, cutting-edge pharmaceutical manufacturing site. Join our Lilly team in Alzey and start as soon as possible as the Senior Process Engineer HVAC. The senior HVAC Engineer is the site Subject Matter Expert (SME) for site HVAC (GMP and non-GMP) and the ancillary systems within the facilities. During the project phase, the HVAC Engineer will be a key player in the cross-functional project team responsible for construction, commissioning, qualification, start-up and operational readiness of all HVAC systems. In day-to-day operations, the HVAC Engineer will operate the site HVAC (GMP and non-GMP) and ancillary systems reliably, cost-effectively, and in compliance, maintaining them in a controlled state and fit for use to meet site needs. The HVAC Engineer will drive continuous improvement initiatives and local capital investment.

Key Objectives / Deliverables
  • Be the SME with deep technical expertise in all HVAC and ancillary systems (GMP and non-GMP) and their pharmaceutical manufacturing applications.
  • Ensure assigned processes align with Industry and Lilly Standards.
  • Support risk assessment exercises using available tools (e.g., FMEA).
  • Engage with teams, committees, or individually to achieve departmental, site and company goals.
  • Lead or participate in projects/changes for all systems including design, verification (IV/OV/PQ), as user representative for capital projects or delivery agent for local projects.
  • Develop documentation (URs, specifications, test cases) to demonstrate proper installation, qualification, startup, and ongoing controlled state.
  • Contribute to process resource assessment, capital plans, expense budgets, and prioritize actions.
  • Monitor utility systems and maintain KPIs to ensure proper operation and compliance.
  • Provide written instructions for proper operation and maintenance of equipment and processes.
  • Implement effective maintenance and reliability techniques.
  • Lead troubleshooting of equipment failures using RCA and guide operations personnel in issue resolution.
  • Provide technical assistance to maintenance and operations personnel; support internal and external inspections and investigations (including Quality and HSE).
  • Maintain efficient communications with appropriate site customer groups.
  • Proficiency with TrackWise and CAPA systems.
How do you convince us?
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferred: ME, MET, EE, ChemE).
  • 5+ years of experience in HVAC/Utilities in a manufacturing setting; pharma experience preferred.
  • Experience with startup of new site HVAC systems.
  • Experience with Building Management Systems.
  • Knowledge of energy reduction techniques in HVAC systems.
  • Experience with equipment commissioning and manufacturing plant utilities.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience with maintenance and CMMS.
  • Experience with deviation and change management systems including TrackWise.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; knowledge of cGMP; strong technical capability and ability to train/mentor others.
