THE ROLE & THE TEAM

Zalando's Transport Management System (First, Middle & Last Mile) is used across all transportation operations in Zalando's network. With the move to a more flexible, platform-based architecture, we have unlocked additional optimisation potential. Fully realizing this potential involves strategic rethinking of complete process chains with long-term impacts. The role focuses on these strategic areas, supporting the product team through deep dives, discovery, opportunity sizing, and project initiation. It is a senior position within a scaled product delivery organization, combining consultancy expertise with domain knowledge. The support areas include:

1. Building and optimizing Zalando's transport systems
2. Central exchanges of capacities and cut-offs with higher system levels
3. Customs services optimization, data model, and interface design

WHAT WE'D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

In your assigned areas, you will:

• Quickly onboard, dive deep, and formulate a product strategy with mid- to long-term features and requirements
• Provide thought leadership and collaborate with engineers, product managers, analysts, and designers. As a senior individual contributor, you won't have direct reports but will focus on defining and executing multi-year product strategies
• Collaborate with stakeholders across operational, process improvement, network planning, and budgeting teams to drive consensus on product vision
• Back your decisions with data-driven insights, architectural proposals discussed with principal architects, and understanding of e-commerce KPIs and fulfillment processes
• Author key product artifacts, including roadmaps, press releases, requirements, specifications, and solution papers
• Pitch phased execution plans considering dependencies and capacities; advocate for additional resources when needed
• Mentor junior product team members and strategically hand over tasks to ensure impact
• Define initial KPIs, understand their business impact, and monitor success over time
