About the team:

The HERE Platform Solutions Architecture team is embedded within a horizontal architecture group responsible for defining the target architecture of platform products at HERE. This group has deep visibility and influence over how various software products are designed, implemented, and maintained. The team fosters a culture of cross-collaboration and knowledge sharing, working closely with strategic customers worldwide to build solutions leveraging the HERE location platform. The team’s work directly impacts customer success and HERE’s competitiveness.

The team comprises around 9 architects with diverse backgrounds and experience levels, united by a commitment to continuous learning and creating customer value. Members are adept at viewing systems broadly and diving deep into specific components as needed.

About the role:

A Senior Principal Architect contributes to HERE's success by enabling customer success through high-quality technical partnerships and leadership. Responsibilities include:

• Designing clear, consistent system architectures to integrate products and services into unified solutions.
• Collaborating with engineering teams across organizations to develop scalable, efficient, and cost-effective systems.
• Defining and communicating technical interfaces and validation through prototypes or PoCs.
• Translating market requirements into balanced technical architectures considering performance, scalability, costs, and compatibility.

Who are you?

• Proven experience delivering large-scale system architectures, especially in the automotive domain.
• Expertise in in-vehicle system architecture design in ADAS/AD.
• Experience with SDV architecture patterns and implementations.
• Leadership skills in multi-stakeholder environments.
• Experience developing production-grade, cloud-based, vehicle-centric software architectures.
• Ability to adopt new technologies beneficial to the business.
• Proven leadership and mentoring experience.
• Customer-centric mindset with a record of delivering customer success.

Qualifications:

• Degree in computer science or related field; strong fundamentals.
• 10+ years in distributed/parallel computing systems; 5+ years in architect/engineering roles.
• Hands-on experience with embedded Linux, Android Auto, QNX, etc.
• Familiarity with high-volume data processing technologies like Flink, Spark, Kafka, Redis.
• Experience with AWS cloud platform.
• Expertise in high-performance edge software for ADAS/AD.
• Knowledge of AI/ML foundations and applications; experience with location-based services is a plus.

This position is based in Berlin, Germany, with relocation support available within Germany.
