Package units at Uhde GmbH refer to sub-plants that are largely self-sufficient. They usually support the main process to function properly by providing utilities such as steam or cooling water.
In your new role you will be acting as a specialist for cooling towers, providing input to cooling water concepts and chemical cooling water treatment in the field of international chemical plant engineering.
Your tasks:
- Taking responsibility for large GRP cooling towers or modularized cooling towers (200-2000 MWth), cooling water chemical dosing stations and hydraulic check valves.
- Contributing to the cooling water concept by considering closed loop vs. open loop, cooling tower basin design and cooling water pump philosophy.
- Defining the cooling tower concept regarding layout and position of cooling tower cells.
- Estimating the cooling tower’s dimension, its footprint, the number of cells and other design parameters.
- Advising the layout department for the preferred location compared to other structures.
- Participating in audits for potential vendors.
- Preparing technical tender documents and order specifications.
- Evaluating offers and preparing technical bid comparisons.
- Providing technical clarification for suppliers and customers.
- Managing the manufacturers after purchase order placement e.g. by checking all related documents and resolving technical queries.
- Passing on and coordinating information (auxiliary energies, tie-in points, loads, installation information) to adjacent disciplines like process engineering, instrumentation, electrical engineering and construction management.
- Participating in HAZOP studies and design review meetings.
- Supporting inspections, functional tests, and performance tests as well as assembly and commissioning on site, mainly abroad.
