Job summary

Amoria Bond is seeking an Optical Engineer (m/f/d) for a freelance 1-year project. You will develop and enhance sophisticated optical systems, select and integrate components, and collaborate across optics, mechanics, electronics, and software.

The role requires at least 5 years of experience in optical development, strong Zemax skills, and hands-on experience with high-power or ultrafast lasers. Remote work with occasional on-site in Hessen is available.

Qualifications

For a technologically demanding development project, I am currently looking for an Optical Engineer (m/f/d).

Your Responsibilities:

• Development and further enhancement of sophisticated optical systems and subsystems
• Responsibility for optical components from the concept phase through to technical implementation
• Selection, design, and integration of optical and photonic components
• Collaboration across the interfaces between optics, mechanics, electronics, and software
• Preparation of technical documentation, specifications, and design review materials
• Support with qualification, validation, and verification testing of optical systems
• Evaluation of technical solution approaches with consideration of performance, time, cost, and technical risks

Your Profile:

• At least 5 years of experience in the development of sophisticated optical systems
• Strong knowledge of optical design, optical materials, coatings, and testing methods
• Experience independently developing optical components or subsystems
• Good knowledge of photonic components and their integration into complex optical systems
• Strong understanding of opto-mechanical interactions
• Experience collaborating with related disciplines such as mechanical engineering, electronics, and software
• Experience with technical documentation, specifications, and technical design reviews
• Practical experience in the qualification, validation, and verification of optical systems
• Structured, transparent, and proactive working style, with experience in multidisciplinary development environments
• Strong hands-on experience in at least one of the following areas: optical modelling using Zemax or alignment of high-energy/high-power laser beams
• Experience with high-power laser systems is desirable
• Experience with ultra-short-pulse laser systems is desirable
• Experience working with suppliers in the optics or photonics industry is desirable
