Senior Node.js Developer (m/w/d) - Search Engine - onsite or remote within the EU, Hamburg

We are looking for a Senior Node.js Developer (m/f/d) to be part of the development of our Search Engine. Our Search circle is embedded in our new circle cluster “Customer & Shop Intelligence”, which is responsible for driving a personalized and inspirational shop experience.

Responsibilities include:

• Designing and implementing search algorithms, leveraging NLP techniques, and optimizing search results for relevance and efficiency.
• Ensuring our Search Engine delivers highly accurate and comprehensive results to enhance user experience.

Technical skills required include:

• Experience with Elasticsearch, Vue.js, React, Node.js, TypeScript, MySQL, and Google BigQuery.

What you will do

• Develop a cutting-edge Search Engine utilizing NodeJS with TypeScript.
• Build a user-friendly frontend for search managers to customize and enhance the search experience.
• Manage extensive data volumes efficiently, employing Google BigQuery and integrating with Business Intelligence systems.
• Build and enhance high-traffic APIs with minimal latencies.
• Collaborate with developers, product managers, QA, and analysts to improve functionalities and launch new features.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and explore new technologies with our Tech Lead.

Who you are

• Minimum 2 years of Node.js experience.
• Recent experience with TypeScript.
• Solid knowledge of working with SQL or No-SQL databases.
• Recent experience with React, Vue.js, or similar frontend frameworks.
• Ability to write well-structured, efficient, and maintainable code.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• Experience working in an English-speaking and agile environment.
• Experience with Elasticsearch and Google BigQuery.
• Experience with centralized logging, monitoring, and alerting solutions (e.g., Datadog).
