Responsibilities

• You’ll be a critical member of a geo-distributed team responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting networking capabilities within high-assurance, secure, and highly-available environments. As a senior engineer, you will be responsible for team outcomes and mentoring team members.
• You’ll champion, implement, and refine DevOps practices to improve operational efficiency without compromising security.
• You’ll lead design, network/code, and security reviews to identify risks and prevent bugs by applying expertise in network implementation, telemetry analysis, root cause analysis, and best practices.
• You’ll understand the capabilities and limitations of existing tools and resources, considering customer impact to drive team decisions.
• You’ll participate in 24/7/365 support, including rotating on-call duties, requiring strong responsiveness and problem-solving skills.
• Collaboration across the global organization is essential. You’ll facilitate cross-team information sharing and process reuse to enhance efficiency and consistency.
• Work closely with security teams to ensure adherence to security standards, integrating security practices into all work aspects to maintain a strong security posture.
• Regular travel to in-country Sovereign Operations Centres is expected for effective coordination and collaboration, with exact frequency to be agreed upon, but sufficient to build strong relationships.
• Up to 25% onsite travel to the Sovereign Operations Center is anticipated.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent with experience in designing and supporting complex networking environments.
• Strong knowledge of deploying, configuring, and maintaining network environments (physical and Azure), including BGP, switching, firewalls, and IPSEC VPN.
• Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) or equivalent Cloud Certification.
• Proficiency in English and good German reading/writing skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in system and service administration of complex platforms.
• Passion for innovation in complex, constrained environments.
• Understanding of system and service management challenges in high-security domains.
• Scripting experience (Bash, PowerShell, Python) and familiarity with DevOps tools like Ansible.
• Experience across security, software, networking, and service design domains.
• Extensive support and on-call experience.
• Problem-solving skills in distributed systems and critical production environments.
• DevOps experience, including automation.
• Knowledge of Azure deployment tools like Bicep and ARM templates.

Security and Other Requirements

Candidates must meet security screening requirements, including Microsoft Cloud Background Check and possibly government or customer-specific screenings. Citizenship verification via passport is required due to legal restrictions, especially supporting German government agency customers. This role may involve access to export-controlled information, subject to export regulations, and requires proof of citizenship or legal status.
