Job summary

Isar Aerospace seeks a senior mechanical design engineer to own mechanisms for stage separation, actuators, and related systems. You will lead design phases, define requirements, and drive trade studies and manufacturing optimization to ensure timely, high‑quality outcomes.

You will collaborate with static structures, propulsion, and production teams, releasing drawings, supporting testing, and iterating designs based on verification results.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering with proven results
• 8+ years in full-cycle design engineering with CAD, assembly and test execution
• Experience with manufacturing processes, scheduling/planning, materials and surface treatments
• Strong understanding and experience of ISO GPS or ASME GD&T tolerancing principles
• Experience with testing activities, definition of test plans and procedures
• Excellent understanding of kinematic synthesis, actuation, mechatronics, structures, fatigue and tribology
• Collaborative attitude and willingness to travel to launch sites and suppliers

• Design vehicle mechanisms through design phases (CAD, drawings, sizing) until qualification and acceptance
• Requirements definition for vehicle mechanisms
• Drive trade studies, manufacturing optimization and performance for mechanisms

• Create, review and release development and flight hardware drawings and design documentation
• Identify build/test/design optimizations and drive to resolution

You will need strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively withstakeholders,directreportsand leaders within and outside the organization. You will bepart of a team responsiblefor developing stage separation mechanisms, fairing separation mechanisms, hydraulic,pneumaticand electro-mechanicalactuatorsand umbilicalfluid and electricalsystems.You have mechanical and integrated design experience as well asproventrack recordofdelivering results on time and quality, whilecompleting collaborative projects effectively. Your design, analysis and manufacturing skills enable you to own the outcomes of key mechanism design trades anddevelopment ofour Spectrum Launch Vehicle.

Your Role in Our Space Mission:

• Design of the vehicle mechanisms through design phases(CAD, drawings, sizing)until qualification and acceptance.

• Requirements definitionfor vehicle mechanisms

• Driving trade studies, manufacturingoptimizationandperformance formechanisms

Qualification Checklist

• 8+ years of experience in aproductfull cycle design engineering role, including CAD(Siemens NX preferred),assemblyand testexecution

• Proven experience with manufacturing processes, project management, scheduling/planning,materialsand surface treatments

• Strongunderstandingandprovenexperience of ISO GPS or ASME GD&T tolerancing principles

• Experience with testing activities, definition of test plans and procedures, support to the test team in test execution and post processing

• Excellentunderstanding of kinematic synthesis, pneumatic/hydraulic and electro-mechanical actuation, mechatronics, instrumentation, structures strength, stability, fatigue failuremodesand tribology

• Collaborative and communication driven attitude:team workis key to success

• Proficient English skills (German is a plus)

Bonus Skills

• Previousexperience with kinematic synthesis, pneumatic/hydraulic and electro-mechanical actuation, mechatronics, instrumentation, structures strength, stability, fatigue failuremodesand tribologyin the aerospace industry.

• Experience in structure and fluid systems forlaunchvehicle designor equivalent aerospace product,complex partsmanufacturingand assembly techniques.

• Strong experience with designengineering tools such as NX,TeamCenter,Solidworks,Catiaor equivalent.

• Experience with structuralsizingtools such asAnsys, AltairHyperWorkssolutions, Nastran, etc. and with analytical sizing calculations (e.g.HSB, Brunn, etc.)

• Strong experience with ERP/MES Systems, product lifecycle management (PLMe.g.Teamcenter)and/or data management

• Highly motivated to join a European space company and make it succeed

• Willing to travel to the launch site and suppliers when necessary for hardware support
