Job summary

Sedgman GmbH, based in Frankfurt, seeks a Senior Mechanical Piping Engineer to lead mechanical and piping design across major studies and projects in Europe. You will work with clients and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality outcomes and mentor engineers through project phases.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, 10+ years in design/delivery, and strong German/English language skills. Frankfurt office, European growth focus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Minimum 10 years' experience in engineering design and project delivery.
• Proven experience in mechanical and piping design for industrial or minerals processing facilities.
• Strong knowledge of plant layouts, pumping systems, and piping infrastructure.
• Experience with reviewing and developing PFDs and P&IDs.
• Exposure to procurement support, vendor management, construction, and commissioning activities.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams in a consultancy environment.
• Familiarity with engineering analysis software and design tools.
• Strong project management and stakeholder management capability.
• Knowledge of German engineering standards and regulations.
• Professional proficiency in German and English.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical and piping design from concept to commissioning.
• Prepare and review technical reports, specifications, calculations, work packs, and detailed engineering documentation.
• Develop and review plant layouts, pumping systems, piping networks, and material handling systems.
• Prepare and review PFDs and P&IDs and coordinate design interfaces across disciplines.
• Support feasibility studies, detailed engineering, procurement, construction support, and commissioning activities.
• Coordinate vendor engagement, equipment package development, bid evaluations, and technical assessments.
• Provide field engineering support to construction and commissioning teams.
• Lead small project teams and provide mentoring, coaching, and technical guidance to engineers and designers.
• Utilise engineering analysis tools to evaluate and optimise mechanical system performance.
• Support business development activities, proposals, and client engagement initiatives.

We are currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Piping Engineer to join our growing European operation.

As The Senior Mechanical Piping Engineer, You Will
