Responsibilities

1. Liaise with Energy Market (EEM) traders, originators, and sales staff to understand and challenge proposed hedging strategies and commodity contracts.
2. Monitor the PnL and risk metrics of EEM's portfolio. Report performance and compliance to management.
3. Review new products or transactions to identify and quantify their risks (e.g., options, Financial Transmission Rights, PPAs, gas storages, batteries).
4. Develop reporting tools and automate risk monitoring processes.
5. Review the application of risk metrics in the Regional Units (RUs) to ensure alignment in definition and application.
6. Quantify portfolio effects and correlations between RUs and different risk types.
7. Develop, maintain, and enhance quantitative risk models to assess and price market risks for energy trading and customer portfolios.
8. Monitor the performance of risk models and suggest improvements based on research and industry trends.
9. Prepare and deliver ad hoc analysis reports and presentations for stakeholders and committees (Market Committee, Risk Committee).
10. Interface with various stakeholders: EEM's Front Office, Controlling, Accounting, Regional Risk functions, etc.

Qualifications

• University degree in a quantitative, financial, information technology, or risk management discipline.
• Good knowledge of VaR, option theory, econometrics.
• Solid understanding of financial instruments (Futures, Swaps, Forwards, Options) and valuation methods.
• Excellent understanding of commodity markets (power, gas, certificates) and energy economics.
• Proficiency with SQL and Python for data modeling and engineering, ideally with Cloud technologies, with an interest in expanding automation and reporting.
• Experience with renewable energies, flexibilities, or short-term optimization is advantageous.
• Strong analytical skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in risk management or trading within finance, investment banking, hedge funds, consulting, or energy companies.
• Proactive, good communicator, team player.
• Enthusiastic, agile, with a drive to learn and improve.
• Languages: English required; German advantageous.
