What You Will Do:

• Research in driver monitoring systems and driver well-being including cognitive distraction, drowsiness, stress, impairment, and interventions
• Identify research methods, data collection techniques and analysis methods
• Develop experimental paradigms to test hypotheses basing on modern knowledge of physiology
• Develop approaches to analyze behavior and physiological signals
• Enhance data collection procedures to include information that is relevant for building analytic systems
• Work with Engineers to create experiments that will induce stress, drowsiness, and cognitive distraction in a vehicle setting.
• Screen, scout and evaluate the technology market and trends
• Drive the networking between technology Harman-X, start-ups and academia to match interests and evaluate potential collaboration partnerships
• Develop technologies that measurably deliver breakthrough experiences and work with the broader team to build proof-of-concept/ demonstration systems
• Compile and organize findings in reports, graphs, charts, and diagrams. Write reports, white papers, conference publications and patents that enable Harman’s industry leading agenda

What You Need:

• Minimum of PhD degree in Neurophysiology, Physiology or Psychology or related discipline plus five years of relevant academic or industry experience
• Theoretical and practical understanding of Neurophysiology
• 1+ years in IT industry and 5+ years in Research
• Understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms, such as k-NN, Naive Bayes, SVM, Decision Forests, etc.
• Experience with common data science toolkits, such as R, Weka, NumPy, MatLab, etc.
• Experience with data visualization tools, such as D3.js, GGplot, etc.
• Excellent applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc.
• Experience with basic methods of psychological and physiological research
• Good scripting and programming skills Python etc.)
• Publications in leading scientific journals in one of the fields: Psychology, Physiology, Neuroscience.
• Experience with basic and/or applied research conducting in one of the fields: Psychology, Physiology, Neuroscience.

What is Nice to Have:

• Experience in data labelling for machine learning
• Experience working on research in a commercial environment.
