The purpose of this role is to ensure that comprehensive blueprints for METRO's multi-channel pricing strategy are in place and always kept up to date. It also ensures that country teams are well-equipped and trained to implement the strategy within their local organizations. The role makes certain that they are familiar with the standard processes and tools required for implementation, and that they feel supported and guided in their journey of executing the strategy and tools, for example, through monthly routines and discussions on established performance metrics.

Your Responsibilities / Tasks:

  • Developing: Developing pricing concepts and blueprints to further enhance METRO's pricing strategy based on the domain, channel & market knowledge.
  • Supporting: Support the country organizations, e.g. buying & pricing teams across 20+ countries, to evolve their pricing strategy implementation for multiple channels like Cash & Carry, Food Service Distribution (FSD) by building a strong analytics-driven culture and by ensuring the right enablers i.e., Pricing Tools, Processes, and Governance.
  • Measuring: Monitoring the established KPIs (e.g., price investment in different instruments & baskets) to measure the impact of pricing across countries, and working closely with local country teams on identified areas of impact.
  • Consulting: Supporting country organizations in the implementation/usage of the pricing tools, while consulting them on appropriate measures to improve business processes, and change management.
  • Collaborating: Working with key global functions and the country experts (including senior management) on cross-departmental projects:
    • Addressing the local business needs/specifications, and bring necessary adjustment in the pricing strategy to ensure market relevance.
    • Guiding and supporting the team of experts in the implementation of processes, tools and thereby the pricing strategy.
    • Enabling exchange within the international pricing community by sharing best practices, and cross-country benchmarking.
    • Ensuring active stakeholder management e.g., timely and effective communication on the projects.
    • Conducting workshops and training sessions with the global & country teams (traveling required).

Your Profile:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in finance / business administration / economics (or a related field); MBA preferred.
  • Expertise: 5+ years of experience in Pricing & Revenue Management as well as experience in B2B/wholesale industries, or in Food Trading/Food Service Distribution would be a plus.
  • Functional skills: Fundamental experience in pricing: strategic planning, pricing tactics, pricing processes, commercial rules and strong analytical skills coupled with generating insights and actionable recommendations, proficiency in data visualization tools, advanced excel functions and expertise in working with pricing tools - design, implementation, and usage.
  • Personality: Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively convey complex concepts to diverse stakeholders, experience in leading change management, implementing new processes/systems, experience of working in a global / multi-country setup as well as high level of initiative and self-motivation to drive projects and achieve goals in a dynamic environment.
  • Communication: Advanced communication skills (writing and verbal) in English.
