The Legal Department of JPMorgan Chase (JPMC) is responsible for providing legal services to the company's legal entities. It is organized into Practice Groups that align with JPMC's lines of business and internal functions. This structure facilitates communication of legal and regulatory changes and business developments between legal teams and other departments in a timely manner.

As an Assistant Vice President attorney within our Commercial and Investment Bank (CIB) Legal team, you will provide legal advice to internal functions and lines of business operated by JPMC across the European Economic Area and the broader EMEA region. You will report to the Frankfurt-based lawyer in CIB Legal, who, along with their team, advises the Securities Services and Payments businesses.

Job responsibilities

1. Provide legal advice and transactional support to the Securities Services (including Custody and Depositary Services) and Payments (including Treasury Services and Trade) businesses, in coordination with global Practice Groups.
2. Provide legal advice to JPMC legal entities in Germany on their legal matters as part of the Corporate Legal Practice Group.
3. Assist in developing policies, procedures, and standard forms.
4. Liaise with and assist outside counsel as necessary on legal matters related to these areas.
5. Advise on legal and regulatory developments.
6. Support select special projects, both long-term and short-term.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• German-qualified lawyer with experience in financial services, transactional, or litigation matters from a major law firm, large multinational corporation, or equivalent.
• Familiarity with legal and regulatory frameworks governing large financial institution products, services, and transactions in the relevant coverage areas.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external clients.
• Confidence and experience in translating complex legal concepts into practical solutions.
• Creative problem-solving skills.
• Fluency in spoken and written German and English is essential.
