Join us to make education accessible for all! We are looking to strengthen our Engineering Team in a full-time (40 hrs./week) role as a Senior Java Engineer (m/f/d) within Germany or the UK, remotely or at one of our office locations.

This role focuses on building and maintaining front-end and backend services, designing SQL queries, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance academic planning tools. Our tech stack includes Java, React/TypeScript, MarkLogic, Camunda, AWS, Docker, DataDog, and GitLab. Your Tasks

1. Build and maintain applications focusing on academic data and module handbooks.
2. Debug multi-stack distributed systems running on JVM and Node.js.
3. Reverse-engineer legacy applications to understand and fix user pain points.
4. Design and implement robust SQL queries and data models to drive planning intelligence.
5. Use Linux command tools for deployment and maintenance tasks.
6. Collaborate with product managers, product owners, tech leads, and other stakeholders to shape our planning tools.

Your Profile

• Deep expertise in Java and React/TypeScript, with a focus on React.
• Solid knowledge of SQL, including complex data modeling and query optimization.
• Proven adaptability, curiosity, and the ability to navigate uncharted territory with incomplete requirements.
• Independent, goal-oriented, and structured work style.
• Strong team spirit and excellent communication skills in English; proficiency in German is a plus.
