As part of our Core IT Infrastructure Services team you will provide the foundation for Brainlab’s VMware and Windows Server environment.

VMware vSphere

As our primary VMware architect and administrator, you will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing our VMware environment. VMware vSphere is not just the hosting platform for our business processes; it is an integral part of our R&D efforts. Your focus will be on continuous improvement in terms of stability, scalability, security and usability by automation. This development is driven by close collaboration with other IT colleagues and R&D departments to ensure that our VMware infrastructure supports and enhances the development of our innovative products.

Responsibilities for VMware

  • Design and manage our VMware vSphere infrastructure including our data center facilities.
  • Proactively identify potentials in the environment and drive improvements in stability, scalability, security, performance and usability.
  • Collaborate closely with other IT teams and R&D departments to align VMware capabilities with project needs.
  • Assist business application owners in effectively running and optimizing their workloads.
  • Since VMware workloads have the largest footprint in our landscape, you will be responsible for our data center operations.

We are seeking a Windows Server Administrator to take our predominantly Windows Server-based system landscape to the next level in terms of performance and security. This role involves a controlled transition to management through Microsoft Azure Arc, ensuring a seamless migration and further utilization of new capabilities.

Responsibilities for Windows Server

  • Administer and maintain our Windows Server environment.
  • Lead the transition to Azure Arc management, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum benefit.
  • Enhance system performance and security through proactive management and optimization on an OS level.
  • Monitor and manage server performance, ensuring high availability and reliability.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams and business departments to integrate and support various applications and services.
  • Management of Windows Server update cycles.

Qualifications

  • A degree in computer science or an equivalent technical education with a minimum of 5 years of experience
  • Enthusiasm for new technology with a passion for IT system architectures
  • A broad understanding of IT principles in general (networking, web services, security concepts, load-balancing and high available system architectures)
  • Proven experience in VMware administration and automation of VMware based workloads
  • Experience with NVIDIA vGPUs and AI workloads
  • Experience with monitoring platforms and VMware performance tuning
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server administration
  • Experience with Azure Arc
  • Analytical troubleshooting capabilities
  • A high level of service orientation and enthusiasm in optimizing processes
  • Advanced English skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
  • Independent, structured and organised working style
  • Experience in data center operations
  • A strong focus on user orientation, service availability, cost efficiency, data privacy and cyber security
  • Relevant certifications, like VCP-VCF and Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate areis a plus
  • Experience in enterprise storage and backup systems is a plus
