About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer to design, build, and manage all on‑premise IT infrastructure, including hardware operations, networking, and data center facilities, as well as some of our cloud infrastructure. You will be responsible for establishing infrastructure from the ground up, capacity planning, disaster recovery, and day‑to‑day operations. You will manage, configure, and monitor our IT infrastructure, including automated backups; ensure the security and availability of resources; and work closely with engineering and operations teams to provide robust, scalable IT infrastructure that supports our AI and robotics development workflows.

Your Responsibilities
  • Infrastructure Architecture & Operations
    - Design, implement, and maintain complete on‑premise IT infrastructure from the ground up
    - Perform capacity planning for compute, storage, backup, and networking resources to support business growth
    - Develop and execute backup and disaster recovery strategies with defined recovery objectives and regular testing
    - Build and maintain comprehensive infrastructure documentation, including architecture diagrams, runbooks, and procedures
  • Physical Data Center & Cloud Infrastructure
    - Establish, manage, and monitor on‑premise IT facilities and hardware, including servers (storage/compute), cooling systems, power distribution, environmental monitoring, and physical security
    - Design, provision, and maintain on‑premise and cloud storage (NAS/RAID/Object, etc.) and compute/GPU infrastructure for machine learning, AI development, and high‑performance computing workloads
  • Enterprise Networking
    - Design and implement WAN/LAN/WiFi network topology with proper segmentation (VLANs, VRFs, etc.), security controls (firewall policies, isolated zones, etc.), and core network services (DNS, DHCP, LDAP, etc.)
    - Configure and manage enterprise‑grade networking equipment, including switches, routers, load balancers, Wi‑Fi APs, and firewalls - Deploy and configure WAN connectivity (including ISP selection and vendor management), VPN solutions, and network security controls, including IDS/IPS
  • System Administration & Support
    - Deploy and manage Linux server infrastructure for application hosting, databases, and services
    - Manage IT equipment procurement and provisioning for employees (laptops, monitors, peripherals)
    - Configure and deploy employee workstations (Linux, macOS, Windows) with security policies and standard software
    - Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues while providing employee support
    - Create and manage user accounts with SSO across platforms, including cloud services, GitHub, GitLab, email/calendar, and development tools
  • Vendor Management
    - Establish and manage relationships with technology vendors, service providers, and consultants
    - Negotiate contracts, SLAs, and pricing for hardware, software, and telecommunications
    - Coordinate with ISPs, colocation providers, and data center service providers for connectivity and hosting
  • 5+ years of hands‑on experience in IT infrastructure management, system administration, or DevOps roles with progressively increasing responsibility
  • Proven track record of building infrastructure from scratch or leading major infrastructure transformation projects
  • Deep expertise in enterprise networking, including WAN/LAN topology, VLANs, routing, switching, firewalls, and VPNs
  • Strong hands‑on experience with server hardware, including assembly, configuration, and maintenance
  • Expert knowledge of RAID configurations, SAN/NAS storage systems, and backup/recovery solutions
  • Experience with Linux server administration and troubleshooting
  • Solid understanding of data center operations, including power, cooling, physical security, and environmental monitoring
  • Hands‑on experience provisioning and managing GPU infrastructure for compute workloads
  • Solid understanding of information security principles and best practices
  • Scripting skills in Python, Bash, or similar languages for automation
  • Experience with infrastructure automation and Infrastructure‑as‑Code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible)
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex hardware and network issues
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills
  • Self‑motivated and comfortable working independently in a fast‑paced startup environment
Beneficial Skills
  • Experience in startup or high‑growth environments, building infrastructure to support rapid scaling
  • Experience with infrastructure monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, or similar)
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper‑V, Proxmox, or similar)
  • Knowledge of networking protocols and tools relevant to high‑performance computing environments
  • Experience supporting AI/ML infrastructure and understanding of GPU computing requirements
  • Industry certifications such as CCNA/CCNP, RHCE, or similar
