Your future plans

As an IT Architect - Connectivity, Network Security & Unified Communication (Senior), you will play a central role at RWE, ensuring a future-proof IT landscape across over 250 locations. Your expertise will help implement the company's network and unified communication (UC) architecture and strategy, aligning these with the strategic goals of the Group in collaboration with internal and external partners and providers.

You will be part of the "Connectivity and Unified Communication" department, responsible for network and network security, including 2nd and 3rd level support. This encompasses operation, maintenance, support, as well as design, implementation, and ongoing development of infrastructure projects for the entire group.

1. Define IT architecture by balancing tactical business requirements, strategic value creation, and technological future-proofing, aiming for an optimal IT landscape through project specifications and demand clarifications.
2. Architecture Management: Obtain architecture approval for MFP-C topics (including team lead / Head-Of approval), document architecture decisions, develop and maintain architecture roadmaps, and ensure governance. Represent the department in RWE architecture forums.
3. Conduct technology and market scouting.
4. Consult with subject matter experts on solution design.
5. Support governance, risk, compliance, and IT security alignments.
6. Assist with integration topics outside the MFP-C domain.
7. Serve as interface to RWE business partners, IT infrastructure portfolio management, and stakeholders regarding architecture topics.
8. Provide consultation on business cases or tenders for new projects, technologies, or suppliers.
9. Prototype new technologies.

Requirements include several years of professional experience in network technologies, cloud (Azure & AWS), unified communications, and managing partners and providers. You should have excellent knowledge in developing, designing, and operating cloud network services, including Zero Trust Network Access, and telephony services, collaboration tools (chat, voice, video conferencing), and media services. A solid understanding of services like IPAM, external DNS, and domain management, as well as comprehensive knowledge of network & connectivity, is essential. Strong goal orientation, analytical skills, and the ability to work in a team are required. Fluency in English and German, with willingness to travel, is also necessary.

Advantages, but not mandatory

• Experience with hybrid cloud networking.
• Understanding of on-premise networking technology stacks (willing to learn).
• Experience with automation tools like Terraform, Python, and Azure DevOps.
• Cloud certifications such as Azure Network Engineer Associate or AWS Certified Advanced Networking.
