Senior Innovation Engineer, WW AMZL Innovation and Design Engineering

Amazon, founded in 1995, aims to be the world's most customer-centric company. Amazon Logistics (AMZL) seeks an experienced, innovative, hands-on, and customer-obsessed Senior Hardware Development Engineer to lead the development of new mechatronic products for our Delivery Stations of the future. This role involves strategizing, defining, and managing the lifecycle of new mechatronic technologies within the Amazon Logistics Innovation Engineering team.

The ideal candidate will possess robotics, engineering, planning, and analytical skills, influencing the Amazon last mile automation roadmap by collaborating with Robotics, Software Tech Teams, Process Engineering, Operations, Facilities, and Engineering teams to enhance the customer shopping experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end development of equipment technology from ideation to on-site implementation.
  • Draft requirements, specifications, verification plans, and test procedures.
  • Gather customer feedback and field data to propose improvements.
  • Make data-driven technical and business decisions based on testing and validation.
  • Define project timelines, manage budgets, and conduct progress reviews.
  • Collaborate with simulation teams to validate ideas and optimize workflows.
  • Develop scalability strategies with various teams including vendors and supply chain.
A Day in the Life

You will innovate and prototype new technologies, work with vendors, and understand field challenges. Your activities may include building prototypes, demonstrating benefits through data, and developing business cases for new technology pilots, all while deepening your understanding of how technology impacts AMZL operations and staff.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or related fields.
  • 5+ years of experience in mechatronics system development and validation.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar 3D CAD tools.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles applicable to product design.
  • Experience optimizing machine design for manufacturing, cost, and maintainability.
  • Proven project management skills in dynamic environments.
  • Fluency in English.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MSc in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Automation Engineering.
  • Experience with PLM software and ECO processes.
  • Familiarity with simulation/emulation software like FlexSim, Emulate3D, Visual Components.
  • Data analytics skills, including SQL and Amazon Quicksight.
  • Experience with Machine Learning, IoT, or AI platforms.
  • Proficiency in German or French is a plus but not required.
