My client, a management consultancy, is initially seeking a temporary Senior Manager Employee Relations, HR-Risk and HR-Compliance (m / f / d) for one year (with option to extend).

WHAT YOU’LL DO :

In this strategic role, you will shape and implement the employee relations (ER), HR compliance, and HR risk management framework.

You will lead complex ER investigations, manage critical HR processes (including Case Management), develop policies, and advise senior leadership on sensitive workplace matters.

You will collaborate closely with HR Services, Legal, and Compliance to drive alignment, mitigate risks, and foster a fair, inclusive, and transparent workplace culture.

The role includes the following areas of expertise :

  • Conflict resolution: You effectively manage workplace issues while ensuring fairness, legal compliance, and business alignment.
  • Policy expertise: You develop and apply clear, compliant policies that guide behavior and decision-making.
  • Communication: You communicate complex issues clearly and respectfully across audiences and cultures.
  • Collaboration: You build credibility and alignment across functions, seniority levels, and geographies.
  • Integrity and confidentiality: You operate with the highest standards of professionalism and ethical conduct.
  • Prioritization: You handle multiple cases and projects with efficiency, composure, and a strong focus on quality.

YOU’RE GOOD AT :

  • Managing sensitive and complex employee relations cases, including investigations into misconduct, grievances, and interpersonal conflict.
  • You ensure processes are fair, legally sound, and well-documented, and outcomes are handled with discretion and professionalism.
  • Identifying and mitigating workplace risks, drawing on both internal data and external insights to anticipate challenges and develop proactive solutions such as policy updates, manager guidance, or training interventions.
  • Translating legal and compliance requirements into practical HR policies and processes that are easy to apply across different markets while maintaining alignment with values and regulatory obligations.
  • Enabling HR teams and people managers by providing tools, resources, and training to strengthen their ability to manage ER situations confidently and consistently.
  • Using data and case trends to generate actionable insights and measure the effectiveness of ER interventions, helping the business make informed decisions and continuously improve the employee experience.
  • Building strong partnerships across HR, Legal, and business leadership, acting as a trusted advisor in high-stakes or ambiguous situations and promoting a culture of accountability and respect.

YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS) :

  • 7–10 years of experience in HR operations, employee relations, or HR risk / compliance.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in HR, business, or a related field; background in employment law or demonstrable experience handling complex ER cases with legal implications is preferred.
  • Deep understanding of labor laws, compliance principles, and workplace risk frameworks.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to approach sensitive topics with clarity, discretion, and emotional intelligence.
  • Fluency in English and German.
