We are looking for a Senior Fullstack Engineer - Monetization to join our Berlin office!

Your mission will be to change the future of language learning by ideating and validating a new space for Babbel. You will work in a small team, close to subject matter experts and researchers to bring this mission to reality.

You will:

• Deliver value iteratively by building high-quality applications and features
• Build, maintain, and take ownership of a rich ecosystem of applications and services
• Be part of a Monetization team and build end-to-end payment features
• Own architectural design and propose improvements of existing services
• Ensure reliability, efficiency, and maintenance of systems
• Collaborate on feature design, architectural decisions, and technical debt assessment
• Shape coding guidelines and quality standards
• Address operational events like bugs and incidents
• Focus on continuous learning and improve engineering practices
• Contribute to all development phases within a small team
• Propose, implement, and validate solutions, from prototypes to scalable solutions or discarding them
• Maintain understanding of the technology stack and infrastructure

You are:

• A good communicator
• Comfortable with a backend-heavy role, AWS, and infrastructure
• Interested in solving problems for learners

You have:

• Experience with Build-Measure-Learn cycles, API design, and third-party integrations
• Proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript, AWS, NoSQL, React/NextJS
• Strong skills in HTML, CSS, preprocessors, CSS-in-JS, and testing
• Ability to collaborate with product and business stakeholders
• Proactive in building MVPs, short-cycle iteration, and lean/agile practices
• Strong communication skills in English

Nice to have:

• Experience in fintech/payments, especially Stripe
• Knowledge of Monitoring and Observability tools (DataDog, CloudWatch, etc.)
• Experience setting up CICD pipelines (GitHub Actions)
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform)
