You will shape the servo controller software, optimize performance, and collaborate with control performance and customer applications teams to extract maximum efficiency from a multi-core SoC.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Synapticon builds the motion control and actuator technology at the core of next-generation humanoid robots. Our ACTILINK actuator series and Positron Safetay AI architecture are deployed in some of the most demanding humanoid and advanced robotics programmes globally. We're looking for an experienced embedded developer to lead the firmware design of our next generation robotic axis controller.

HERE'S WHERE YOU MAKE AN IMPACT

We need your creativity and passion to help design and develop the most efficient, flexible servo controller on the market. You will be contributing to all phases of product development, from design to manufacturing. Built on our history of physics-hacking algorithms, you will work closely with our control performance and customer applications teams to improve the behavior of our control strategies and squeeze every last drop of processing power out of our unique multi-core SoC.reakpoint needs to be captured clearly enough that it remains useful months or years later.

WHO YOU ARE

You have a very strong theoretical and practical background in firmware development. This likely means you spent several years learning about search functions, data containers, and other algorithms and patterns to solve common problems. You know very well how to use a debugger, set up build tools, etc. You understand (through experience) the importance of writing clear and maintainable code. You can hold the behavior of complex systems in your head and reason through them. Quickly learning what you need from the internet or peers is your forte, as you have a strong desire to perfect your craft. The years of experience you have working in a team help you guide and nudge the rest of the team toward good coding practices, maintain version control hygiene, and untangle complex systems down to a level where everyone on the team understands the specifics of what needs to be done. You are proficient with modern coding tools and LLM-assisted development, knowing when these tools accelerate your work and, just as importantly, when their output needs careful review. You treat them as a force multiplier rather than a crutch, and you bring a healthy skepticism to anything they produce. You also understand that firmware does not exist in a vacuum: you apply sound privacy and security practices throughout your work, and you are familiar with the relevant standards and how they shape design decisions from the start rather than as an afterthought. We are especially interested in selecting a candidate who excels in clear and effective communication, both verbally and in writing. Excellently written specifications communicate your clever solutions to the rest of the world. Meetings you lead are informative, and everyone leaves with a common goal. You are excited to work on a team to build something bigger than you could build by yourself.
